I'm only still relatively fresh to this but to date, I haven't bought a single piece of clothing (apart from maybe undies) or shoes. I don't own cosmetics or moisturizers or any of that gunk.
We have no more microwave (it didn't occur to me at how 'weird' this was until somebody came over the other day and went on and on about it - hence, prompting this discussion).
Anyways, off the top of my head and for the moment they're the biggies. I'm sure there'll be plenty more along the way.
What crap have YOU ditched?
Synthetic Vitamins (except for occasional B vitamins)
probably half of my clothes (i still have a lot, but a good part of that is because of my job)
a lot of stress and irrational fears
my eating disorder :)
insecurities about who i am/ how i look/ what i do (now I just live my life and enjoy who i am)
Wow, that's a heck load of meds. Nice.
No lotions for my skin, except coconut or olive oil.
I use toothsoap instead of "normal" toothpaste.
I only use organic all natural cruelty free conditioner instead of shampoo and all the masks and things.
And everything I use from cleaning supplies to cosmetics is organic and cruelty free.
These are things I have been doing for a long time though, since going vegan... 80/10/10 is just the next logical step.
Preserved foods (Red Cabbage, Pickles, Umeboshi etc)
Vitamin D Pills
Fish Oil Pills
Inhaler (Haven't ditched entirely but need it less and less, will ditch one day soon! )
Soy Sauce/Bragg's Aminos
Apple Cider Vinegar
Chips <--- this was a big one. Every single weekend with my boyfriend. Don't miss it at all :)
... Just to name a few.... :)
Well done! Keep going, dig deeper! You'll see the treasures you'll find. All the best.
Holy shit balls, Kim! Great work
Why didn't I think of that? Bam! They're gone. Thanks, pirh!
They are the frigen devil!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"bed (Sleeping on a mat on the floor is way more comfortable, eliminated my shoulder aches, and a big part of healing my low back pain.) "
Cloudyknight, it's because of you that I am trying this tonight. I hate my bed.
Oh! Oh! I have one more!
GUM!!! I used to be addicted to chewing gum (Extra Professional, the kind that brushes your teeth) to stave off hunger. I went through at LEAST a pack a day.
I have the cavities to prove it.
