I'm only still relatively fresh to this but to date, I haven't bought a single piece of clothing (apart from maybe undies) or shoes. I don't own cosmetics or moisturizers or any of that gunk.
We have no more microwave (it didn't occur to me at how 'weird' this was until somebody came over the other day and went on and on about it - hence, prompting this discussion).
Anyways, off the top of my head and for the moment they're the biggies. I'm sure there'll be plenty more along the way.
What crap have YOU ditched?
That article is false, try a similar experiment yourself and you'll find microwaved water is just as good as boiled water for plant growth. There are good arguments for not microwaving in plastic containers, but otherwise it is no different to boiling.
Ditched your career AND closed down a business??? That's intense. What do you do now???
I've gotten rid of a heck of a lot of empty banana boxes!
+ 1 :)
Just recently I got rid of my cake mixer and my dehydrator (got nice $$$ for it yay).
I buy a lot less clothes, almost none, because I have so many and want to fit into them before I even think of reasons to buy new ones. I don't buy clutter/decorations, because I'd rather spend the money on fruit :-).
I have stopped buying magazines (which I love, but they're so rubbish), instead I look the stuff (health, exercise crafts) up online.
I bought a kindle, so now I don't buy printed books any more. No emotional thing for me
I do spend more money on food, exercise gear (shoes, clothes) and just bought a new, powerful blender. But whenever I buy something new, I try to get rid of at least 1 'old' item.
I have 2 little food processors and a coffee grinder to get rid off. Surely some friends want them :-)
I've also started 'donating' my time by volunteering about 10 hours each weekend for Riding for the Disabled.
It all feels quite good :-)
my car, most of my clothes, all my books, magazines, artwork, all my 'stuff', makeup, hair products, soap, toothpaste, perfume/deodorant, beauty products etc
all i have now is 2 backpacks of clothes, my bike, my vitamix and my stash of fruit and thats just how i like it! :)
Ooh, I don't think I could ever give up books. I totally hoard books.
buy a e reader
That´s great! Finally people like me who feel best with less stuff :-)
Amy, how do you wash your body and hair? and don´t you need some moisturizer? I need it for my face and hands. They are so dry...
Wow, Amy. Love it. That is very inspiring.
Nearly all my limiting beliefs...
Yeah, people think it's weird not to have a microwave. We went 4 years without a microwave, then decided to buy one, and it broke 3 months later. We haven't had one since. i just don't see the point in having one. Even when cooking meals, microwaves totally ruin the food and give it a bad texture.
