I'm only still relatively fresh to this but to date, I haven't bought a single piece of clothing (apart from maybe undies) or shoes. I don't own cosmetics or moisturizers or any of that gunk.
We have no more microwave (it didn't occur to me at how 'weird' this was until somebody came over the other day and went on and on about it - hence, prompting this discussion).
Anyways, off the top of my head and for the moment they're the biggies. I'm sure there'll be plenty more along the way.
What crap have YOU ditched?
Chocolate <--this was a big one. I used to have to have chocolate every day. Now I walk past the chocolate aisles like a boss
Worrying about eating "too much"
An inch around my waist
Artificially sweetened candies
Love it! "Like a boss"
got rid of:
pots and pans (majority - bf still eats cooked)
most of my clothes! all animal made product.
moved to a smaller apartment - didn't need so much space and didn't need to spend so much money.
i get outside more, smell the fresh air, less time around food.
STUFF - in general! i realized that i don't need so much...STUFF!
such a freeing experience!
oh yes, and makeup, toxic cleaning products, toxic soaps.
in general, if i can't eat it, i won't put it on my body.
i got rid of all the make up i used to collect
body image issues
INSOMNIA - i suffered for years and now it's gone:)
caffeine that used to wreck me like a drug
the occasional under age drinking binge..
gum! i used to be physically addicted
anything that doesn't grow from the ground no longer enters my body
chocolate granola bars..haha
all the bullshit in my life.:)
Got rid of all of my cookware, except for one pot, all electronics except for my computer....and some people. :-))
I live a pretty minimalist lifestyle as it is. This is a great thread! Just today i was feeling like an oddball once again because I live the way I live at age 48, no kids, no house. If my apartment caught on fire, I would grab my cat and my 15 yr-old peace lilly and run. They're all I care about, seriously.
Wow, Mangosister. This is really great. An oddball? Please. You sound really content and happy with where you are in your life.
