I'm living in Kansas and there is a serious lack of organic produce. Especially when it comes to fruit... the staples are available like, bananas, dates, pears, apples, mangos, and some berry's. The only other option, being that this is the antithesis of tropical is to hit up some of the asian stores. They have the diversity in produce but, I can't help but feel torn because there is clearly a lack of care and consciousness towards quality and/or growth/harvest/storage practices.
The environmental working group has the dirty dozen list, I was wondering if anyone had any info on conventional fruits that are a MUST avoid because of the long list of chemicals used versus conventional fruits that are more acceptable. I'm just looking to add more variety and am looking for some assurance that it's ok to eat things like sapodillas, plantains, papaya, etc from the asian stores.
