Hi all!
I've been on a raw till 4 nutrition for about 4-6 months, don't remember more precisely. BMI is 19. And for several months now i'm experiencing gassiness and a bloated belly which doesn't go away much in the mornings or after 3-4 hrs after meals, just right after the meal it gets even bigger. I didn't do any cal restriction or dieting in the past, nor did i eat as many cals as i do now, 4k+! i never had such a big belly even when i was on a standard diet. I realise it's probably not fat.
What's more surprising is that sometimes (despite the unbelievable amounts of fiber intake), i don't have any bowel movements in a day, then i have 2-3 the next day, but usually it's just once a day, though i feel it's not enough.
Another fact is that sometimes after mono fruit meal lunch my intestines go berserk and produce so much gas and disturbance that i go to the toilet 2-3 times after that.
Also what i noticed is that when i take a laxative (castor oil), so much is going out of me and after that my belly is nice and small. But even if drink 1l of water or eat 10 bananas my belly is big again.
What i normally eat is: banana green smoothie (breakfast), mono fruit (like tangerines for lunch), cooked starch meal (dinner).
You can see the sample of my daily menu in the attached image. Sometimes total cals go up to 4200.
Can it be because of too much fiber or too much food in general?

1. What time do you eat your starch dinner?
2. What time do you go to bed?
3. Why do you take laxatives? And for how long have you been taking them?
1. At 8 pm (finish at 9).
2. At 10.30.
3. To see their influence on bloating. I don't take them regularly, don't get me wrong, maybe once in 2-3 weeks on average since january or so.
Try dinner at 4-5, bed at 9 and see their influence on bloating.
Ditch the laxatives.
ok, this is a little update - i can't do that regimen because of work. I do 4 hrs break between the meals now though.
No more laxatives now! yay. But the problem remains.
Of course the problem remains lol.. you just said you can't remove the cause of the problem.
so you think the sole problem is my regimen?
i basically have 1,5 - 2 hrs between dinner and sleep.
Yes.
Not just the 1.5-2 hrs, but also the fact that you're eating it too late.
Yes, but lentils were just an example, for dinner it can be boiled buckwheat, whole-grain pasta or rice, i didn't notice much difference.
As for salt, i know i need to cut on it someday but the puffing up would perhaps extend to other parts besides belly - face, legs, arms? i didn't notice that. Also on the standard diet 5 yrs ago i was eating way more salt and was never bloated because of it.
No you're right. If you're keeping a high salt intake pretty steady over time, it shouldn't make you that bloated, especially in just one area. I just wanted to point out that this is a whole lot of salt, which, it seems you realize :)
You might be gluten intolerant?
yea it's an interesting supposition. I've eaten wheat products in the past with no problems but never a large portion in 1 sitting as sometimes it happens now. So i'm gonna do a 30 day gluten elimination test and see if there's any change, it's not that difficult.
