30 Bananas a Day!

Hey
Im thinking of heading to Costa Rica in Jan'11. Or in Dec'10 but most likely January.
But the flights are more expensive than I thought, I thought the cheapest connection would be from LA to San Jose, Costa Rica.

But most of the flights are connecting flights, so I would fly to North Carolina or Miami first.
I guess I could head to Florida and connect from there...

or I might just fly to Guatemala instead.

Do you have a secret place where you get super cheap tickets?
Im usually the best at finding cheap flights, I just bought a cheap tickets to San Francisco, but cant find one to costa Rica.

What would be a good, non-expensive price from Cali to CR?

Any secret airlines?

you could hitch hike! i back packed there from sd and it was really fun..... takes a while tho
Thing is my visa runs out right around there, so I kinda have to leave =)
I could leave earlier and make time for that trip but that would be less time for the magic people I want to see.
How long did it take you?
I am intrigued!!

I also have to buy a departure ticket out of the states anyway, because they wont let you enter on a one-way ticket!
get one to cancun.. and go from there, or if you do get one to guatemala.. watch out cuz guat city is a hard place. espcially after dark. they wouldnt let us got outside of our "hotel" at night beause someone would probably try to hold us up.. and my friend got pick pocketed on a bus!.. itsjust that city that is so rough tho
when did you do that? I'd be afraid of getting abducted along the way.
i went in 2008 ... we took busses and public transport threw mex... chicken busses threw guatemala ( watch out in guatemala city, its rough there) and hitch hiked threw honduras and nicaragua. we did stop in belize too... but its wayy too rough there for hitching. i took me about three months to get to costa rice, but i took my time.

as for abducted- dont look like your lost and dont hitch next to the usa/mex boarder... other then that everyone was really nice that we got rides with, it really is the best way to see central america.. and it does help if you know spanish, as the further south you go... the more spanish is the 2nd language and some myan language is the 1st.....
