I'm finding it hard to eat enough on this diet. I have a really busy schedule and I barely get a break all day. How can I get the calories in throughout the day? I tend to have a big breakfast of oatmeal and fruit then a few veggie wraps for lunch and some corn pasta for dinner. Does anyone have any tips for carbing up on the go?
I've been struggling with the same, being a student. I like to keep some dates or raw date bars for snacking on in class, but if you up your meals maybe you won't feel hungry between mealtimes. Another easy snack is just cut up fresh fruit. If you keep some in your office or whatever, you can sneak it while no one is watching!
Yeah, Isabel has some good ideas. Cut up melons are quick to eat. Also, sometimes I will pit a bunch of dates and pack them to go, that way makes getting some quick calories in easy.
dates and bananas are the highest easy to eat calorific food 1 banana is 100 kcals 1medjool date 65 kcals so easy 5 bananas 5 dates you're getting towards 1000 kcals easy peasy!!
I agree with Get Raw Vegan, bananas and dates are an easier way to get in your calories. I also suggest you try to drink more smoothies. If you add in a second breakfast smoothie you will be golden! I am trying to eat 2-3 breakfasts. The cool thing is, fruit digests so fast you can eat more than cooked food. Maybe if you eat a fruit smoothie first thing and then 30 minutes later eat your oatmeal. Can you drink juice at work/school? That's what I do and it really helps.
Trust me it does get easier! It personally took me about two years before I could laugh at large volumes of food.
In the meantime take every opportunity you can to get the good stuff in. One thing that has helped me greatly was to pick those foods I REALLY LOVE. When I eat those I tend to enjoy myself the most and eat the fastest lol.
Make smoothies and take them in a cooler. Eat part of a meal while you're driving to school or work (Be safe!). These are all things I've done to get the whole foods in while going to college, working, working out, and also getting enough sleep. It does take practice. Keep at it Annie.
Agree with everyone above :) I take a massive banana, date, blueberry and spinach smoothie to work and sip on it while I work...boss doesn't seem to mind. I also take mono-meal bowls of cut up fruit such as pawpaw, pineapple or mango and I ALWAYS have a container of dates with me. I work in a sushi shop and am never tempted to eat the food at work because I am always carbed up :D
Good luck Annie! Hope you can use some of the tips people have kindly given you :D
