All I know is that women generally experience weight gain (around 10 kg), and have hot flashes. Doesn´t seem like a funny phase to go through :-/.
Well you probably don't have to worry about the weight gain!
no, I am only 33!
I know in John Robbins' book (can't remember which one) he said that all the vegan women he knows never go through hot flashes or have vaginal dryness nor moodiness nor any other problems associated with menopause in the general population.
Thanks. I was thinking perhaps the women are going through psychosomatic issues due to a psychological struggle with the change.
I don't buy the theory of psychosomatic symptoms.
Every woman I know (most of them non-vegans) who have gone through the change welcomed it because the cessation of periods is enormously liberating.
As for vaginal dryness etc, as one (meat eating) friend remarked to me, "not only is there sex after menopause, there are orgies."
Apart from ceasing to menstruate, I didn't experience any other symptoms. But I have been completely vegan since 2012, and mostly vegan since about 2000.
