I'm wondering how many calories stay at home parents eat.
I'm pretty new at practicing the 8-1-1 way of eating (about six months)I am a stay at home mum, I have a two and a half year old. He doesn't sleep during the day any more. We're pretty busy through the day, he watches a couple of shows on the computer in the afternoon which gives me enough time to prep/cook dinener for my partner.
I'm 23 years old, 175 cm tall, (5-9, i think) and weigh 60kg, so i'm at a pretty comfy weight but could still stand to lose a couple of kilo's.
Today I ate over 3000 calories from fruit, and then was still ravenous at dinner time, and woofed down about 1.5kg of root veggies.
For all you stay at home parents;
How many calories do you eat?
How many children do you have?
How old are your children?
Many thanks :)
Eat enough cals to achieve your fitness and parenting goals.
Freelee & I don't have kids. We couldnt manage if we did. They take up so much extra energy. We would crack lol!
You would need as many if not more calories than us. We just sit around on the computer or go for an easy bike ride in the breeze talking about youtube analytics and societies carbo phobia.. We just go thru the motions. Doesnt take many cals now. Can't go thru the motions with children though cos they are always changing and growing and need constant attention and focus.
Calorie up! :)
if only i could run a five minute mile based on how many calories i can consume. i would gladly consume a million calories tonight if i was guaranteed to run a five minute mile right now. unfortunately my legs are not that quick at fast twitch muscle growth
Harley you could manage if you could. You dont' realize it but you're everyone's parents (that want to listen cause they care about health). You're giving up being a parent to two, but instead showing much much more people how to eat properly to feel good, look good, and have energy to achieve stuff. you're instead a parent to many people. you're so anti-selfish. and that's why you are awesome. I'd call you dad but you would have had to have me when you were 3. i guess i call you bro.
Thanks for your helpful words Durianrider! I really appriciate it!
i think DR's advice on calories was great
It's the most rewarding thing i've ever done. If something is whorth doing, it's not going to be an easy ride, but it will be the best!
My boy is 11 and hyperactive lol, what sort of root veggies are u woofin down sounds interesting do u mean raw ?
This is something I'm still trying to work out also. I have a 6 year old, 5 year old and two year old. I haven't had the energy to parent them the way I envision since my two year old was born. I'm here to change that today. I think the idea is to eat until you feel satisfied. Eat when you are hungry but only until you are full.
How is your family doing with the changes you are making?
I love my kids but truthfully they are energy suckers!!! HA! The more fruit, the better I feel, the more patient I am, the better I sleep and the better parent/person I am. I shoot for at least 2500 per day but could probably use more.
how many calories? 7 million! aim for that and hopefully you'll come close to what you need :) are you making lots of smoothies? when i started off i used to do smoothies and i would get insanely ravenous, once i stopped the smoothies and just ate the whole fruit, i didn't need as many. if you're a parent, turn eating into an eating contest cause youre going to need those carb calories for fuel. LOL I'm not actually a parent. I'm just trolling. LOL I went to my sister's wedding rehearsal and saw the two lil kids running around and said, hmmm...that looks like fun and i ran around with the kid while the standard american dad looked on and wished he could pretend to keep up with these kids. the mom could a lil bit. lol
and dont forget the veggies, fruits important for the carbs and calories, but i feel more magical when i eat a lot of lettuce tomato and celery for the mineral gainz
Exactly, the more the better.
I feel more 'magical' with some greens and veges too :)
Also homemade orange juice gives me a nice boost.
