30 Bananas a Day!

Here's one:

and another:

they're a little squashed, but they are rounder than most and pretty small.

here's a picture of the pit:

I want to say they're barhi because that's what they look similar to, but I've had barhi dates before and they don't taste much like this....

If anyone knows what type it is I'd love to hear because they are absolutely divine and I want to order a 10 or 15 pound box of them!

Thanks in advance,

khadrawy would be my guess

gosh i'd love to help you out, but it's hard to tell! it could be khadrawy, halawi, barhi, or honey by the looks of it. i just got some honeys recently, and they are probably the smallest variety i've had, but they're super delish and sweet and soft. most of them are smaller than that pic you have but some are about that size.

They look like either Khadrawy or Halawy to me! If you go to 7hotdates.com they give descriptions of each type of date and what they all taste like.

sorry to everyone for not replying right away, I had to go to work and only just got off.

These dates are from a sampler pack from date people and this variety in particular were the best I've ever had!

They weren't so gooey that you couldn't eat them without getting them all over yourself, but they were soft and delicious.

Based on what everyone has said, I think I'll order a pack from 7hotdates.com and get khadrawy, halawy, and zahidi and see if its one of those.

thanks for the replies!

Did you e-mail a picture to the date people? They probably have a limited list of what they'd throw in a sampler pack, so they should have a good guess on which variety it is.

great idea, I will do this. Though I am thinking more and more that they are barhi dates. They were just so round and delicious.

The barhi dates I've had were round and quite juicy...like really runny, you had to put the whole thing in your mouth to eat...and they would pop juice like a cherry tomato...but obviously sweet like a date!

I bought them unripe and waited for them to ripen...maybe they didn't have the chance to dry out ... but the seeds do look very similar to the barhi ...

I've had barhis when they're in the khalal stage and are greenish yellow and crunchy like an apple. When allowed to ripen after that they became so soft, poofy and clouldlike- very moist as you described.

These dates didn't taste much like the ripened barhis, but I believe they were a more dried out version.

However, I now know for a fact that they weren't zahidi or halawy (which are equally delicious in their own way) because I just received those two varieties from 7hotdates.com and they look and taste completely different to the dates in question here.

it looks a lot like a khadrawi date, my favorite!
