I posted about a week and a half ago about the orange juice that lit a bonfire in my stomach for the morning meal. I just chalked it up to the probability of some of them being unripe. However this has been an ongoing problem for me. The burning pain is like you just ate a lot of unripe fruit so I am still suspecting that is the issue. However, I just found a great new breakfast and I had it for the first time this morning. Pears. I let them ripen for over a week and some were so ripe I had to cut the mush out of them. All of the pears were sweet. I ate 600 calories worth and really enjoyed eating them. About 15 minutes later I had to lay on the couch in pain for 20 minutes while my stomach burned. It subsided and everything was fine afterwards. I had this happen yesterday with mangoes and those were ripe. So I obviously have some type of problem in the morning. I hardly ever get this or it is very mild with bananas at lunch, or with dates and celery at supper followed by a green salad. So I guess my question boils down to the ripe question. Could my fruit that is soft and sweet that I am describing as ripe actually be unripe or is it something else? Does anyone else have this problem?
that is so good to know. Thank you for sharing. I can hardly stand to go another morning knowing that I am going to have to suffer another bout of stomach pain. I will give it a try
yes I drink 32 oz and wait at least 10 minutes before my meals
I am on day 18 or so, so yes I am a newbie. No I don't chew gum and haven't for years. I was cooked vegan but would go back and add grass fed beef occassionally and back and forth.
Are you a newbie? I also had stomach pain at the beginning, it was in the evening for me. I think my stomach wasn´t used to eat so many fruits. I got scared, and thought if I go on like that, I might get a stomach inflammation, like I had once in the past. Now, after a month, I don´t have this problem anymore. Ouff!
very good to know
Also, I know that when someone has a gastritis, citrus fruits are not recommanded. I heard 2 people tell me that orange juice is irritating, because it is a citrus fruit, and because as the oranges are juiced, you don´t have the fibers to slow down their digestion, and so it is more irritating. I don´t know if that´s true though.
Apples and bananas are recommanded in case of gastritis. You could try those fruits for breakfast, instead. I think, just try other fruits, and when the stomach burning is gone, introduce oranges again.
The first meal of the day (either mono fruit or smoothie) also sometimes does that to me... I thought it was because of eating too quickly. It goes away quite fast, luckily, I just thought it's because I'm a newbie too.
Well I think it's definitely because your body needs to get used to digest that many fruits&vegetables. It doesn't just happen over night.
I have the same thing for me for instance I can handle bananas so much better than apples/oranges.
But I think with time we will get used to that.
Also what I read is that your body's PH after you slept isn't on it's best to digest acid fruit... that's why greens would be better - they are alkalizing your body and bring your body in balance.
So try a Banana-Spinach-Smoothie with some dates. It rocks ;)
I posted the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago ... freeking burned like hell after my morning banana smoothie. Curled up for 15 mins on the floor. I couldnt work it out.
Then I found out why (i think, as it has not happened since). I was eating to fast. I was downing my 10 banana smoothie in less then 5 mins. Now I take at least half an hour to eat it and all is fine. I continue to eat all my meals much more slowly now. Actually the other day I rushed a half of watermelon for lunch and I got the same feeling back. Next day I ate the other half slowly and I was fine.
Try eating slowly .. I means I have to adjust my mornings in order to not rush to work. hope that helps .. there is a clip from harley on this called ' Melon Belly '
I get that pain underneath the rib cage, where the livers are. The pain is so big, I curled up on the floor as well. I don't know how to explain this pain. Has anyone else experienced that pain?
I thought it was because livers have to do so much work right now, I am still in detox phase (2 months in now) or is it because I ate potatoes three times this week (lack of rippen fruit this time of season). I have bad digestion too. It's probably the potatoes...
eating slow has helped me with my problem. I have really been just eating half of my breakfast and then waiting about 30 minutes before eating the second half. This has helped me. But yea I get the pain you are talking about as well as burning in the stomach if I eat my breakfast fast.
very good to know... yea I am putting my food down in the morning pretty quick so I am going to definitely go slower
