I had a small fruit meal of 8 kiwis today for lunch. 6 of the 8 were perfectly ripe, sweet and fragrant... the other two were tart and even though I could feel the acid burning my tongue and lips, I continued to eat them.
Now my lips are all stingy and raw.
What did I learn? When eating kiwis, if they are burning your mouth while you are eating them you should stop eating them. *facepalm*
Thank you for the tip, Nate. I'm going to keep that in mind, because I lubs some kiwi!
That happens to me with pineapple for some reason. Even if it's really ripe I still get burned. That's good that the not so ripe ones were burning you and not the ripe ones. You don't have to avoid them but just eat them really ripe.
How much pineapple are you eating? I find if I eat more than one pineapple in a meal or even in a day, my throat gets itchy. Which makes me sad, because i could live off of pineapple...FOR REAL!
Please, please, please stop eating fruit the moment you start to feel it burning your mouth. Imagine what would happen if you went on "Pineapple Island" with green pineapples like these ones from Whole Foods...
Or imagine doing a watermelon cleanse be eating nothing put unripe pinkish-white watermelons like this one from from the Super Market...
Or imagine eating 30 bright yellow bananas with green stems (which is what the average person thinks is a ripe banana) a day...
I feel really bad for the average person who doesn't realize when fruit is truly ripe and has only eaten fruit that is unripe. No wonder they look at us like we're crazy and think that eating lots and lots of fruits and vegetables would be the most bland diet in the world.
Just be grateful that you're learning about the dangers of unripe fruit now rather than later :)
