30 Bananas a Day!

Hi 30bad world,

As the title suggests, I'm sick of buying bunches of bananas every few days (especially since they are usually green). Does anyone know of any good fruit markets where bananas are sold by the box? And for how much?

Thanks in advance!

Talk to your local grocery store. I live in Belleville and I get my bananas and other fruit from Freshco. I just call then and put in an order and pick it up when it arrives.  Usually 1 or 2 40lb boxes of bananas a week works for us. Just make sure you are ordering your next box before the bananas you have are ripe so they have time to ripen before you have to eat them. If you call around and ask to talk to the produce managers they can usually help you. Unfortunately, I still pay full price for them. It is just easier for us to get them in bulk. No deals :(

Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of talking to grocery stores at all. I'll ask at the No Frills near me later :)

I have had the same problem. usually if you ask them they can give you a box for you to fill with bananas. Goodness Me was giving me a deal for a box of bananas the first two times and then said they cant do that anymore. I've called Metro and walmart and they both do not give a discount for fruits sold by the  box. I find this is crazy because there is no way that they are selling all the bananas before they ripen.

Will have to try Whole Foods, No Frills and Freshco as well...Please update us on what No Frills says. I really want fruit deals!

I asked at No Frills and they said they w

If any of you have a student card (university/college) check around to see if any grocery stores offer discounts for that. Loblaws near me offers a 10% discount to students on tuesdays, so that's when I'd buy a box. :) (my student card is actually from when I went to uni a few years ago, but they never check it ;)

Also, I have the pc plus app, so if you buy from anywhere that sells president's choice bananas, the app sometimes has offers like 400 points for every $1 spent on bananas. So when you buy a box, you get a ton of points which you can redeem once you have enough. I have about 60,000 points from mostly buying bananas which I can redeem for $60 of even more bananas. :p

Wow, this is amazing. Ima have to get on this point system thing.

I'm on the points system, it is pretty good considering I can't find deals on boxes otherwise! I have a student card too, I'll try that out. Thanks!
