30 Bananas a Day!

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member.

I've been a 'junk food' vegetarian, but close to vegan, for 20 years.

3.5 months ago I started getting a handle on my excess weight and have just been taking small steps and getting gradually healthier since then - and now I'm here!

So I have a pretty good foundation when it comes to being compatible with rt4, 30bad, etc.

What is challenging for me is alcohol, and wrapping my head around no calorie restriction since that's worked well for me so far.

I live in Boise Idaho which has exactly one vegan restaurant. I know plenty of vegetarians, but no vegans, whole-foodies or raw-foodies.

So "Hello" to the community, "Thanks" to Freelee and DR for your outreach, and if you're in the Boise area please hit me up!

Hi Bill!

I live in Boise.  My husband and I moved here from PHX in September 2013.  This is my first post on 30bad too.  So nice to see someone posting from ID!

Vegan restaurants are a little scant here, for sure!  We go to Whole Foods once in awhile but we really don't eat out much since there isn't a lot to choose from when you're LFRV.

I've been doing all all raw for the last few months, and before that I was mostly raw (90%).

But....I just gave up coffee 13 days ago.  So life has been pretty rough for me. :) But, I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I hope it's a light anyway.  Those caffeine withdrawal headaches are pretty brutal.

So are you saying you like restricting calories?  That's the best thing about this lifestyle for me.  I like to eat!

Hi Kaylee!

Are you enjoying Boise? I made it just after 2000. I'm a little stuck know with a son but I'm not complaining too much. ;)  Now that I've been shown the Facebook and meetup.com groups I'm looking forward to meeting more of a community! Have you looking into them at all? There's a meet-up at Whole Foods Saturday.

Good luck on the caffeine - 13 days is awesome!  In my original post I mentioned alcohol, but caffeine is just as much an issue for me too. I used to jack myself up on an americano, then at least a pot of coffee throughout the day and maybe an energy drink. But today I had one shot before my morning workout and stuck to green tea after that and stopped shortly after lunch.

Sorry to hear about the headaches, but I think you just solved something for me. I'd been having some too over the past week when I hadn't had any because of other improvements I'd made. I started to think of the fruit of course, being the obvious thing I changed - but yeah, it was probably the change in caffeine intake.

I definitely don't enjoy restricting calories! it's just what's worked for me. I'm a spreadsheet person - so I could plug the numbers in, see the deficit, and my body would pretty much do what the calculations predicted. But after 3 months and 27 pounds my will power was starting to wane. I probably found this just in time.

So today was a bad day. I went out for happy hour, preceded to lock my keys in the car, so a couple drinks turned into 4 or so. With my willpower massaged and fasting habits in my head went to the peanut butter to try and 'fill up' before 8. It may have been a little late, but it finally dawned on me - if I was going to eat late or binge, filling up on _fruit_ is fine and the right thing to do.

Old habits die hard!

Hi Bill,

I am enjoying Boise! Looking forward to the summer months.

I've been to a few of the vegan meet-ups at Whole Foods and a potluck.  I may be there on Saturday.  It's a good group of people.  You should go.

Great job on your weight loss so far..that's awesome!  Tough day yesterday.  You're on the right track though with the filling up on fruit.  I eat a lot of food and it helps me stick to the raw plan.  I try and avoid those situations where I know I'll get too hungry.  But sometimes it just happens.

The drinking is hard, I know.  It just seems to make willpower disappear completely.  Yikes!

I know you're on the right track with eating more raw foods.  You must be happy to know that you don't need a spreadsheet or calorie restriction to succeed with raw foods.  It's so amazing to follow a lifestyle that doesn't make you feel deprived and is also super healthy.  So many people out there don't understand that and are still following the plan of eating less and exercising more.  Which will not work.

Not sure if you've checked out The Pleasure Trap by Douglas Lisle.  Awesome book.  You can also check out his videos on YouTube or also the co-author Dr. Alan Goldhamer.  Great info!
