30 Bananas a Day!

Okay... So I've been eating a ton ton ton of bananas (FOR ME.. which is about 5-8 a day)... along with mini watermelons, grapes, spinach, cucumbers, celery, apples, strawberries, etc. I'm eating a LOT of fruit, with minimal cooked food everyday (which is very new for me) and I'm sooooooooooo bloated. I LOOK HUGE... My BM suck.. are not nearly as regular as they used to be. Is this from too many bananas (I was eating them unripe, but just started to wait until fully ripe)? I mean, after I eat a mini watermelon I'm in so much pain for an hour I can't move...

 

Any advice?

Hi Jennifer,

This sounds like a clear case of mis-combining food. It is generally advised to only eat watermelons and other melons on an empty stomach, and ideally only first thing in the morning. You may be combining your other foods poorly as well, so the first thing I would suggest is doing a search for "food combining" on this site, or even Google, for more information.

Thank you. Why only melons in the morning? I loveeeeeeeeee watermelon so much, and want to eat it ALL the time. Any recommendations off the top of your head? I will do a search as well. Thanks.

I have heard that if you wait a half hour before and after watermelon and eating anything else you should be ok.

However, eating unripe bananas changes things a bit in my opinion. I tried eating unripe bananas and I had the same digestive issues as you; bloated, gas, constipated, etc.....
Also, maybe give your body a little time to get use to a different diet.....but really I think it is the fault of unripe bananas and possible poor food combining too.
well it's my second day of RIPE bananas.. and I gotta say I feel wayyyyyyyyyyy better. The only other discomfort is indigestion from watermelon, lol. I will try and space meals out and more "mono-type" meals.. which may be incredibly hard to do.

I am still eating cooked foods, and not totally raw (trying to stay on the end of healthier cooked foods though) so my body is having time to adjust properly. I think. I hope.
I understand you are coming from an eating disordered background, no? I found last time I was 811 the time I experienced the LEAST amount of bloating/constipation and discomfort was when I was on Banana Island. From what I can remember, before I started Banana Island I was eating much like you were and was experiencing terrible pain all day everyday. Even after a month on Banana Island (I moved on to melons, which digested alright however getting enough calories a day on just melons just left me feel bloated and on the verge of vomiting.) Try having a few days of just bananas and see how you feel. I also find blending my food in a blender helps as well, less work for the body to have to break down the food.

Just looking at your list of foods makes my belly hurt! :D
