Hi fellow fruit-munchers,
I will soon be travelling to Queensland and staying around the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas. So excited and can't wait to eat all the fruit there!
Does anyone recommend particular markets or anything for produce quality/taste/value for money/organic options?
Would really appreciate your advice!
Yeah I'm keen to find out what's on the Gold Coast too so if anyone knows some great cheap sources of bulk fruit, I'd be grateful to learn of them. We have 6 kids.
I think there is a fruit market on Sunday mornings at Miami High.
Well done in choosing South East QLD as your travel destination. I have lived here my whole life and can guarantee you won't be disappointed with the kind people, great food, clean environment and excellent weather, especially at this time of year.
As others have mentioned on the Gold Coast there a few farmer's market to choose from, the main one's being at Miami on Sunday and Burleigh on Saturday. In Brisbane the biggest and best value is probably the Rocklea markets on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Also worth a look are the Moggill and Kelvin Grove markets on Saturday morning and Northey Street Organic Market on Sunday. Some good value produce (and the more exotic fruits) can generally be found in the Asian food market centres at Darra, Inala and Sunnybank.
So when are you planning on being in the region and where are you coming from?
Thank you for your detailed response!
I am from melbourne and spent the last two weeks in Broadbeach and Brisbane, I also went down to Byron Bay briefly. I loved Queensland so much that I am giving serious consideration to moving there once I have finished uni.
I am back home now but will check out the markets you suggested when I return, hopefully next year! I should have had the foresight to put this query up on 30bad earlier.
Thanks for your help =)
mackay hopefully, well thats where i plan to visit and maybe move some day...the quality of organic fruit is pretty poor here(australia) to be honest. If only there were more demand for organic fruit and veg here, i mean, my local organic store had the same batch of bananas for a solid week, i practically bought all of them lol
