I live in Utah - I can get cherimoya at Sunflower Market for $3.99 a pound. Is this the best deal going, or is there somewhere online I can order that's that price or better?
Not sure, but be careful about eating bulk amounts of cherimoya. They "contain small amounts of neurotoxic acetogenins, such as annonacin, which appear to be linked to atypical Parkinsonism in Guadeloupe. The seeds are poisonous if crushed open. An extractive of the bark can induce paralysis if injected."
Hah, $3.99/lb is a steal. I'm living in CA where they are grown, and they are going anywhere from $6-9/lb here in the northbay. They do get cheaper as the season goes on, but I recall them going for $5/lb at a farmers market in north LA in May (even closer to where they are grown). I say stick with what you got. Are they coming from Chile, or US grown?
