I am still not a full raw vegan, as much as I am trying! I moved to Paris about two months ago and have found it extreamly difficult to get by as a Raw vegan.
Does anyone here have any experience living there? I have met a few people there who don't even know what a vegetarian is :S
Fruit prices seem to be really high there...and due to my BAD level of French it is hard to find a good market when I can get cheaper fruit and veg.
Just looking for any advise from any one out there!!!
Erwan lives there... check this out.
Paris has tons of high quality fruit & veg outlets, no doubt Erwan can help you there. France could be the best European country to live in for organic fruit & veg, and by far my favourite (haven't visited all though).
When I lived in Paris I wasnt all raw but was vegan and was eating LOTS of fruit. I bought a bike trailer and would load up on the SUPER cheap ripe bananas and dates.
I think Paris is still a hole though. NYC kicks ass for big city living. SO cheap here lol!
ah cheers guys!
yeah i knew there must be it was just finding out where...the internet didn't seem helpful when i tried. I'm in the 15th arr. But my sister is there and so two of us carrying should be so bad! im home for a few weeks in the UK which is much easier but when i'm back i'll defenatly try some places out, i know of a cute vegan cafe close by but it isn't the cheapest of places! x
We live in Spain, but we make biz trips to Paris and we found the prices in the organic stores to be really overpriced. The supermarkets are "okay" pricewise, but the best thing to do is to find out where the wholesale produce warehouses are. On 80/10/10 you eat ALOT of produce and you don't want to be paying supermarket prices. That's what we do here. Also having your kitchen equipment helps-good blender, juicer, and food processor so that you can make all of your meals. We visited all of the "raw" restaurants in Paris and some of the vegan restaurants and we found that the raw menu isn't as extensive as you would find in the States or in London. There is really only one fully raw restaurant called "Pousse-Pousse" (maybe there are more now). But we found that we knew more about raw food than most of the people who ran the restaurants. And some had these weird hours and they were a pain to find. You can check out some of these places, a list of farmer's markets, and other vegan friendly essentials on www.happycow.com. You can search by country.
Anyways, it can be done. Good luck!
I am also living in Paris, in the 16th arrondissement. We go to the Wednesday and Saturday markets in Ièna, where you can find organic produce, but it is extremely expensive...Even if I don't buy organic I spend up to 200euros on produce that only lasts me a few days! No supermarkets to be found yet that have discounted ripe fruit. The worst is the dates, 20-30euros per kg, with the pits in! Help would be greatly appreciated...
Hi, I'm from Paris and I can probably help. I've sent a friend request your way.
