30 Bananas a Day!

Is this just another germophobic, sanitation-obsessed panic, or a worthy precaution?

Some of the potential skin infections sound not only unpleasant but rather serious.

Is there any merit for low-fat raw vegans -- or anyone -- in sanitizing sprays, post-workout showers, antibacterial soap, and washing clothes after a workout? Do we need to be concerned?

G'day Alex.
Ah, the mainstream media is using the ol' germ theory of disease to promote fear of life. Bacteria are a part of life, you cannot avoid them.
Reading the articles at this link may help to dispel any concerns that you may have:

I've rarely worried about bugs as it just didn't make sense to me to be worried about them as they are so prevalent. Even as a child I knew they couldn't be avoided and I saw some people 'catch' bugs and others not.
There are all these mad people running around trying to eradicate certain bugs from the face of the earth, lol.

Poisonous sprays used for 'cleaning' are a contributing cause of disease. Once dis-ease sets in then bugs may follow, but bugs don't cause the disease. They just inhabit environments that are conducive for them to flourish. Great food, adequate sleep, water and fun will keep the environment that is you healthy.
:)
Thanks for your reply, Soul Fruit. Everything you said makes perfect sense. It helped me to realize that skin infections would fit into the same category as other bugs and germs, which simply don't "set up shop" in a clean environment, as Dr. Graham puts it (I think) in The 80/10/10 Diet.

I just read in his latest blog post on foodnsport that the sun's UV rays cleanse and sanitize the skin. I've had a harmless fungus pop up in small areas around my stomach and chest for the past few years. Now I think all it needs is some sun exposure! :D
I don't know how others feel about essential oils but I carry them around everywhere I travel. If I get any sort of cut that concerns me I'll use a few drops and then I might put a plaster on it if its deep.
I don't use 'em on cuts myself Ste, but they do smell good diluted with water and sprayed around the house or car to cover up other smells, like wet dog. :D
And a friend uses them to clean her massage table between clients.
You're welcome :)
Yeah I read that blog post too. It was interesting, I hadn't given it much thought before and it does make sense.
