I know it's not the best food-combining, but I used to put lemon or lime juice in with dates or bananas. It REALLY helps cut the sweetness. If you experience an upset tummy afterwards, this may not work for you.
Berries or greens will help a little, too. I have to put greens in my date smoothies or else they are too sweet for me.
My mix: a cup and a half of water. about six bananas, then top the rest off with strawberries or mangos. add Ice. Yummy.

I've been adding nut butter (1 tbsp) to my morning smoothie a couple times a week. I'd like to switch from this but sometimes I get all air headed without it. I'm not sure if this is because I don't get in enough carbs without the fat or if it is purely mental. Like I think the fat will keep me grounded and the placebo effect ensures that it does.
Yup, light headed, shaky means undercarbed.
