30 Bananas a Day!

How much are bananas where you are?

Please provide organic and conventional prices.

Photos are welcome.

Here in the US they are as little as 10c a kg for conventional and 50c-2$kg organic.

When I left Australia a few months back we were paying 20$US per kg.

In Maine I'm buying forty pound cases of organic at forty dollars a case. I think its twenty five dollars for non- organic.

Not sure about the math here....

I would think you would multiply the price by 2.2 since there are roughly 2.2 lbs per kilo.

So the price would be:

$1.08 - $1.38/kilo (conventional)

$2.18/kilo (organic)

32cents in China for fully riped bananas. Mostly organic i think lol

Just grabbed a case of Whole Foods "Earth" bananas. Sold as grown conventional, but grown organically. Usually they are 69 cents a pound. For the past week they have been 39 cents/pound! (18 cents/kilo)

Something told me that those conventional bananas tasted too organic to be grown conventionally! More info, please? :)

I pay $16 for 40 lbs conventional and $20 40lb organic :)

40lb = about 18 kg

$24.80 for a 40 pound case of organic Earth Bananas from Whole Foods in Allen, TX last week.
in australia they are $9 a kilo for organic where i live. slowly coming down in price!  :)

$1/kilo organic banana

Whenever I buy a 40 pound case of organic bananas it almost always comes out to $25 and some odd cents.  Not sure about non-organic other than that it is obviously less.  (Probably $20 a box)  Bananas are so inexpensive here that I have never looked at any price tag when buying them and I have never bought non-organic ones ever.   I felt sorry for you, Freelee, and anyone else living in Australia when I heard about what was happening to banana prices there.
because we don't import bananas, or have a third world country over the border to buy from, and because we grow bananas in cyclone prone areas, we have to pay through the doo doo hole for them, si!!!
