30 Bananas a Day!

Haha, hope that got your attention. 


Anyway....... I am looking into nutrition for babies, kids etc and can not find that much on it. From what I have found to date it looks like they need to be on lots more fat than adults.


Can anyone recommend books or information in line with a LFRV diet.


It has been recommend to us that we should be feeding our baby cooked root vegetables with meat juice! Yes that's right. We should cook meat and drain off the fluid and mix that with a cooked mashed potato.  Disgusting.

He is 6 months and yes breast feeding 90% but he wants food, so we have been giving him organic mashed up pears and apples.



I think anything that a child is not ready to chew on, they are not ready to eat.

Try giving him a banana or some durian if you can get it. Something creamy.



I agree 100% with you. My wife is more mainstream than I would like and we are fighting over what is best for our baby. We both love him and we both want what is best.


I said the chewing comment to her yesturday. I asked her what tree does a blender grow on or did they sell them from a cave in caveman days!



hm... it's very tricky. Adults need a hell of a lot of nutrition from fruits, greens, nuts, seeds, etc... if I wanted to bring up a baby raw vegan I would probably try to make real concoctions to get plenty of nutrients (but not too many things at a time).

And... I would imagine mashing up a food wouldn't have been totally beyond the capacity of a caveman but I guess I do see your point.

I also worry about what happens if you raise the baby with no interaction with other foods and then when they're older they want to eat them but can't?

Health and ethical issues come up I think.

I think the cave-people chewed up food for the little ones to try new stuff :) And I'm sure people all over the world still do that. So I did that for my daughter when she started weaning. I'm thinking that maybe you even help, not only the mechanical digestion, but also the en...zym...ical (!?) - you know what I mean! (Because you add your own, grown up, more developed saliva to the food)
