So I went to my doctor to get b12 injections today. I told her I knew I was low and she asked me what symptoms I was having. Having read "Could it be b12?" last night I knew what I was talking about. I told her I was a vegan, just so it'd convince her to give me the shots. She looked at me with a shocked expression and asked me "you don't even eat eggs?".. that's kinda what vegan means.. Obviously I replied I didn't and when I told her what I eat she looked at me, acting even more shocked and said "JUST fruit and vegetables?".. sigh.
Anyway, she told me she thinks it's my thyroid and I have to get blood tests. I asked her to do an MMA and she said they don't do those. She also said they don't do methylcobalamin. So basically I need a blood test to tell her that my b12 is fine, which is how it will show up, resulting in me not getting my b12 anyway, even though my b12 is very low. I hate the healthcare system. Ireland SUCKS. How irritating is it that we know more about the human body and how it works than these idiots who spend years in college and think they know it all?
Believe me, I wouldn't have even went to see her if I could get the one's I needed online. None of them will do it without actually testing, because yet again, we know more about human health than they do.. Your absolutely right about her being stubborn. It's the whole "I'm the doctor so I know what I'm talking about" mentality. The same doctors told my brother he was "being a hypochondriac" when in fact, he had severe brain cancer and passed away in June. Doctors for ya ;)
Thanks for the advice about the labs David. I'm moving to Italy in 2 weeks so I'm going to try my luck over there instead, hopefully I can find someone who knows a little bit more about human physiology over there.
Thanks again :)
