I was kind of annoyed by this article, not because it criticizes the fruitarian lifestyle but because I felt that there was an implication that Steve Job's cancer was a result of eating a fruit based diet--and doing this without citation or evidence. Has anyone else read this?
Here is the news link:
Just another reason to ignore this overrated jerk. Like we need any more misinformation. Soon instead of hearing "where do you get your protein", it'll be "omg, your pancreas levels must be out of whack!" The only bright light I see is that people don't take him too seriously.
yeah it's ridiculous. they'll succeed in scaring a few people away from fruitarianism, but the fact that they now feel a need to attack it in the first place indicates that it is a growing movement that some in society feel threatened by.
When your average Joe gets cancer it's like "cancer just happens". When a vegan gets it..... "Being a vegan caused the cancer!" Cherry picking information without looking at the full story.
I ended up commenting this:
"I do not believe that eating fruit killed Steve Jobs. I do believe, however, that it may have helped him become the incredibly smart man that he was."
Short and sweet. I don't like to get into arguments, especially with family members. :)
I think that was a great statement to make. Non-aggressive but intentional :)
It's funny that they directly quoted Kutcher directly, using all the "like" and "um" phrases as he would say them.
This is good, because Ashton Kutcher is like, um, an important actor and stuff, so when he says it's "out of whack" then, it must like, be so.
That story has been picked up by pretty much every major media outlet imaginable and it's interesting to see what parts are included by whom. Some allude that fruit killed Jobs while others counter this will statements by researchers that there is actually evidence to the contrary.
However, if you have a few moments to spare, read the comments from some of the more popular sites, like CNN. Priceless.
Danger... really dangerous you might become healthy! beware...
Anyone hear of detox?
Who in the world know's what this clown was living like below.
Yup blame the fruit and veggies and go back to eating what?
Amazing how silly some people are.
I would be surprised if this wasn't a publicity stunt dreamed up either by his agent ("he is such a dedicated actor!") or the folks behind the film (anybody heard of it before this story came out).
Besides, if you were going to get into your role as a young Jobs, you should do the drugs in addition to growing a beard and eating a lot of fruit.
Spot on! I didn't even know he was making it. I must admit, I can't stand the guy, he's single handedly screwed a good TV show with his crappy acting. jerk!
