30 Bananas a Day!

Just wondering. Are you always 100% raw? If you are, what keeps you so committed and perseverant? If you aren't, what do you struggle with and what do you eat on those occasions? What foods tempt you?

Me, I used to eat potatoes, yams, and french fries on occasion when not following 80-10-10, but I realize the consequences now of doing this. They are high glycemic foods and spike the bloodstream quickly, causing me to be groggy and have mood swings. So recently, I've been 100% raw.

Tell me your stories.

I'm definitely not 100% raw and don't see myself becoming that way anytime soon. It's not that I don't think it is good...if someone can be 100% lfrv good for them. But for me, this would involve an incredible amount of planning, social awkwardness, and extra money. I'd rather skip all the stress and focus on feeling good by eating mostly fruit and veg, staying active, and keeping positive. If I eat some rice, quinoa, or something my body handles it fine and I'm still just as healthy as I was before.
I'd like to consider myself 100% because I am 100%, 99% of the time haha.

When I do "cheat", it's on stupid things like one walnut or 3 pistachios lol. Or, sometimes if I'm going out with my friends I'll have one beer and either some yerba mate and green tea to keep me up till 3AM, but I'll do that maybe once a month at the most, and always feel like sh1t after :p

But I have managed to dismantle my "uncontrollable" cravings for all my old comfort foods like baby potatoes, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, and vegan homemade chilli...that stuff is old news.
but you're allowed to eat walnuts & pistachios as a lfrv.... just not copious amounts! one walnut or 3 pistachios (raw?) are definitely part of the plan. =)

now beer... maybe not. ;)
ah touche
If you were sick for a long time and lfrv makes you feel good it's not hard sticking to it once you get used to it. feeling good and having energy means a lot when you didn't have them before, the inconvenience of eating only raw fruits and veggies is a small price to pay really. it's also easier to do something 100% than it is to go 90% or 95% or even 98%, you just decide once and don't keep redeciding whenever something that looks or smells tempting comes your way.
Exactly, It seems to me that the people that are the most diligent about staying 100% lfrv are the ones that have gained the most from switching to the diet, such as healing themselves from various health conditions. I can see why individuals might not want to go 100% if they are already pretty dang healthy and feel great day after day.
Good point, B--I struggle with this...maybe I should stop struggling? :-)
No cooked food for me! I know it sounds vain but cooked food never gave me the body I wanted ...
Ha, me too! Oh and then those pesky health issues that never went away on cooked food, I guess they keep me raw also :)
I see cooked food as a highly addictive drug like heroine or cigarettes, I never eat it. As Dr. D says, the pain has gotten more than the pleasure of cooked food for me and I am totally focused on the health aspects of life as well as increasing my enjoyment of anything but food, things like exercise, play, meditation, intellectual pursuits, gardening (for which my enthusiasm has sky rocketed on 811). I find that my overall enjoyment of everything is increasing as my health increases following the 811 protocol.
