lol, I have some lovely snow peas growing in the back yard, my rule of thumb is; if it is a fruit or vegetable and is tasty and easy to eat off the vine/tree/bush or ground without processing, it is fair game.
take it easy, don't over think it,
Well I know they're ok to eat but are they considered a replacement for leafy greens?
They had these 10 lb boxes of organic sugar snap peas on sale and I couldn't resist especially since I haven't really had them in a while. Now my jaw is really sore. I think I must have eaten like 2 lbs at least so far lol
Mmmmm fresh peas...
No. They are considered a vegetable, and perfectly healthy to eat. They will contribute some of the nutrients you might get from greens (eg. amino acids) but not enough of things like calcium and iron, or omega 3 fatty acids, to be considered a green.
Definitely eat them, but don't think you can avoid the real greens :o)
Greens are a shortened term for green LEAFY vegetable.
