30 Bananas a Day!

When budget is tight both durianrider and freelee promote low fat cooked foods such as potatoes and rice. And I know 30BAD emphasises eating 2500+ cals, which got me thinking in regards to LF cooked.

So... is 1000 cal of fruit for a meal supposed to be subbed to an equal 1000 cal of rice/potato? Or are you supposed to reduce cooked cals?

Do any of you still eat upwards 2500 cal if most of what you’re eating is cooked? How has his affected your body?

Would love to hear what people have experienced!

No need to change your target.
But it's good to remember that cooked food is only for emergencies though, because it's quite low on vitamins, minerals and especially antioxidants, and it's also harder to digest.

Very true in regards to vitamins/minerals! Yes, well what I'm doing now is having the occasional cooked meal a few times a week for dinner. Seems to be working well digestion-wise, I was just curious about the cal situation. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Lavcyn, it's a good question. I personally think they are in the sense that they won't put on fat as such but they will cause other problems which can appear to effect weight gain. By that I mean, cooked starches are more acidic and the body is more likely to retain water to buffer itself from them in the lymph system, this can cause over all bloating, which isn't fat gain but can be seen as weight gain. All cooked foods also cause inflammation, which again can be seen as weight gain. This effects some people more than others. I definitely notice a difference. Also they don't move through the system as cleanly and can cause the stomach to look more bloated, that's also proved true for me. They're also more likely to cause insulin spikes and depending on how efficient your pancreas is, they are more likely to be stored as glycogen, but then this gets used pretty quickly. So, yes, and no, sorry! I personally definitely notice a difference in how my body looks when I eat them and when I don't, but that's not strictly 'fat' gain if you see what I mean. Toxins can from them can also be stored in the lymph system again. You can try and see for yourself. Personally, even when I'm eating cooked starches I still aim for the same calls, about 3000 because otherwise I get undercarbed and hungry, although I usually have a 'cooked starch' hangover (dehydrated). hope that helps a bit, fruit calls are definitely best for over all appearance. x

I completely notice the dehydration, but for me if I have a particularly dehydrating meal it seems to zap the water weight off me and I feel like I look leaner... it's very strange haha. Thank you :)

Yeah, it does vary for people, I personally find it works the other way for me and I just don't feel as good either, because they are more toxic, so they might not effect your weight in a bad way but you won't get the full health benefits, still better than fats and animal products though. :)

Since cooked carbs are harder to digest your body will use more calories to digest, so you will probably need to eat a bit more to compensate.

Awesome, thanks for the info!,

What? Actually, when you cook starches what you're doing is breaking down the glucose chains to make them more easily digestible.

If you would eat raw starch (like a raw sweet potato) that would be much harder to digest than when eating it cooked.

Oh, if you were comparing "cooked carbs" (starches) with fruit, then YES! Of course they're harder to digest! Fruit is much better for sure.
