Freelee has a story of getting deep wound and healing it. I remember her saying she washed it using salt water multiple times a day. Try to find her blog or video she posted or talk to her.
so i dont need stitches? :D i really dont want to have to get them if i dont have too XD im sure itd heal up faster but idk
No one can really judge if you need stitches or not just from your description, you should go to a nurse or doctor and ask if you are at all unsure.
Get plenty of Vitamin K, grapes :3
that's pretty gnarly.
I'd definitely get it looked at and likely stitched or medically glued (don't do this yourself)
I don't advocate tetanus shots, due to a bad experience myself and knowing what's in vaccines, but you may be pressured to get one.
Use your own educated judgement. Whatever treatment upon which you decide, keep a close eye on the wound, and take further action if you notice any abnormal redness, heat or inflamed veins stretching away from the injury. That could equal infection and is not something to be messed around with. Get immediate help in such a case.
In the meantime, sleep as much as possible, hydrate like it's your job, and eat simply.
Heal well, Nathan!
thanks! my dad keeps insisting itll be fine, the picture looks alot worse than it really is, its not too terribly opened, ill probably just let it heal up as is and see how it goes, while keeping it clean and watching for any signs of anything unusual lol. ill post another pic in a week of how its coming along:D
I had a deep cut. I let it bleed for a while to clean out anything bad and then closed it up with my clean fingers then applied super glue to keep it closed. It healed fine. The Doc would use medicated super glue.
You don't need to go to the doctor now, but you do need to go if there are signs of infection. Plenty of super healthy, tropics-living, fruit-eating people died horribly painful deaths from infected wounds before modern medical care. Our immune system was intended to work with our skin intact, not with big gaping holes in it. I've healed some really nasty cuts myself, but I did monitor them closely and would've gone to a doctor if I thought an infection was spreading.
At least it's closed.
One thing to research I recently heard about but haven't confirmed is to rub vitamine E oil into the scar to lessen its appearance. Worth some study.
