I'm in Australia.
I'm thinking about ordering dates from these guys and I was wondering if anyone has had the 'Thory' dates listed down the bottom. I like the sound of the description, 'nutty flavour'.
The minimum ordering quantity is 3 boxes, so I was thinking of ordering a box each of Medjool, Barhee and Thory just to try them all out.
So, anyone have any advice about any of the varieties on that page and how they taste ?
Today was the first time I have ever had a date, btw. I've been thinking about ordering from those guys for a while now, but I had never tasted a date. So, I grabbed a handful of Californian Medjools from the supermarket just to see what they were like.
I was feeling a bit peckish after polishing off 7 apples about half hour prior.
... My first bite of date, I swear it was like an orgasm. I proceeded to sit there there in the car at the supermarket carpark and shove down 6 dates whilst having multiple sugar orgasms.
No one ever told me there was a fruit that tasted like chocolate, caramel and toffeee all rolled into one.
I haven't had thory, so can't help you out. If you get a chance, though, try halawi dates for the best caramel ever.
Ok. They actually have Halawi.
It didn't sound promising, as the description simply says 'subtle flavour'.
If that pathetic description can translate to 'yum, yum, yum' then, I might end up trying all 6 varieties, just to see what else is yummy.
It'll take a few months to try 'em all because you have to order 18 kg at a time to get the cheapest price.
I dunno. Check out other people's descriptions of the taste online. A lot of people say they have a rich taste, so there may be some debate. It's not something you can really describe that well anyway. Halawi blow medjools out of the water for me, so I'd describe them as "yum, yum, yum," no problem.
