30 Bananas a Day!

So I've been sleeping on the floor for about a year now, with no issues I can really think of. I was inspired after seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger's character do it in the movie Twins.

I've noticed it's really only comfortable if I sleep on my back--or else I end up cutting off circulation in one of my arms, but I've heard sleeping on your back is optimal.

I slept on the floor for the last 5 yrs no issues. First it was on a camping thin mattress but then i did not like the polyester so i changed to a thin hemp mattress instead. Loooved it. Now i've a boyfriend and i love having my arms around his head when we start sleep so not sure how to do that on a hard surface.

We sleep on a rug on the floor often. I prefer firm floor with a thin layer of newspaper, rug, yoga mat etc than a bed actually.

I still say sleeping in a hammock is the most comfortable way to sleep in the world. You can sleep on your back if you want, just lay diagonally to it and you lay flat. Eliminates tossing and turning because you're so damn comforable. The key is "surrender." Keeps you away from the creepy crawlies. I hang it on one wall during the day--so much more room without a bed! I sleep in a flannel sleeping bag, Max's ear plugs, and an eye mask when it's full moon. Life's too short to not be as comfortable as you can possibly be for 1/3 of your life. It's like sleeping in a smile...

If I just lay down on the floor, after 20min my head (skull) hurts. Do you put anything under your head... pillow or something? Or would this feeling just go away after some time?

I sleep on a thin futon on the floor, here in Japan. Have done for about 8 years.

I hear that!

See my solution on page 2 :)

I sleep on a 2" thick exercise mat.

I sometimes take a nap on the floor. I need a pillow for my head though. I found laying on a hard floor or thin mat for even 5 minutes helps push out my gas. I'm just too uncomfortable to sleep that way. Sort of like weight lifting I try progressive overload. I figure if my muscles strengthen from that activity eventually I'll have less discomfort.

For periods of time I do. This officially started 2 years ago, a year and a half after I started this lifestyle. Started getting into the concept of minimalism. I never really had back problems, but I do wonder often if it's preventing future complications.

There's some comfort in knowing one doesn't need much to find comfort... well, if your arm doesn't lose circulation ;)

I think it's an ongoing experiment however

Have you tried lying on your side on a hard floor? I seem to be most comfortable on my side with a pillow for my head on a hard floor.
