30 Bananas a Day!

First time poster here. I've been raw til 4 since May 2015 but discovered dates within the last month (haven't been living under a rock, promise... it's that dried fruit never seemed appealing to me until recently), and I always feel so guilty after eating them; it's as if they're a forbidden junky dessert. I usually have 56 deglet noors after dinner (20cal/1 date.. so 1120 cals on these alone). I'm fairly active - I do cardio for about an hour daily - but I can't help shake the uneasy feeling I get from consuming these sugar bombs. Anyone else?

Eat them very slowly, and savor each one, making sure that you keep your fat intake low, ideally below 10 percent. Dates are a wonderful food to restore your muscle glycogen having a ~100 Glycemic Index; I would even recommend consuming as soon as possible after your workout to fuel up and decrease any accumulated cortisol (stress) from the activity. Drink plenty of water before, and throughout the day (roughly 1L per every thousand calories you consume a day) as they can be very dehydrating! They're a really great favorite of mine. No guilt needed!

Hi there! There is nothing wrong with eating dates, however I don't particular like how dried fruit makes me feel either (very dehydrating!) so a good solution is to have them in a datorade smoothie. Soak them for a bit first before you blend them too if they are very dry and the smoothie turns out tasting like liquid caramel.

Good luck!

I eat a 500G bag of pitted deglet noors (bit more then 1400 kcal) every single day in the form of a dateorade... in the evening i peel thema bit so the water can soak in there good.. , so i put them in water overnight in the fridge and then i blend them (ofcourse including the water) into dateorade, usually with some lettuce added to it.

Ahhh...man! Guilt-free food for sure! Drink plenty of water to make up for the 'dried' bit and you all good Venus!! Happy date munching to you!!

My new thing is 10 large dates soaked overnight and add cucumber for a dateorade. Delicious!
