I am sitting down to eat my lunch today... which is 32oz fresh orange juice, about 3 cups of fresh pineapple, and then about 3 cups of some assorted fruits (melons, grape, strawberry)
Before I eat all this... can anyone tell me if eating so much of the acidic stuff (oranges & pineapples) together is bad for me or my stomach?
In general I have no issues tolerating acidic foods. I'm just new to this way of eating and I don't know if its looked down on?
I eat very high citrus/acidic lunches myself. Today, I'm eating 10 blood oranges. :) And it's not uncommon to eat a whole pineapple dipped in strawberry sauce. It's a perfect lunch for me! But I would avoid the melon. Melons should be eaten alone, on a fairly empty stomach, since they digest so quickly.
Oh thank you!! Good point. I will definitely save the melon for later, then!
I drink tons of OJ and I have no problems with it, ever. Just rinse your mouth or drink and swish with water afterwards.
Good call! Thank you!
Citrus fruits, even though they contain citric acid, are not acid-forming. So it shouldn't be a problem, but like Amy said, I wouldn't mix melon with citrus.
Thank you so much!
I am not concerned with a fruit being "acidic" and or labeled as citrus as long as it is ripe. Most of these fruits are actually alkalizing in our bodies.
I personally love to start my day stoked on a megadose of vitamin C and start with a mono meal of oranges.
What I might recommend for you though is to eat simple meals and a rainbow of foods over a period of time for easy digestion.
Many people are allergic to pineapple especially if it is not ripe. I am personally latex and or pineapple sensitive. You will have to judge for yourself how that works out.
Last but not least, you may also have to judge for yourself regarding the juicing. People seem to have better results overall eating fruits in their whole raw form with soluble fiber and other nutrients in tact verses a fragmented form. If you get any side effects, reduce or skip the juicing.
Good luck and Peace, PK
