Hey peoples, I did search for this topic but didn't get the answer I was looking for.I have read that  to be healthy and cancer free we need to maintain and alkaline system, I guess that means free from acidosis. I have heard Dr Doug Graham in one of his you-tube videos explain that the body takes care of your Ph level so I'm assuming he means it doesn't matter if your diet is alkaline or acid to a degree. I have also heard raw food gurus talk about having an alkaline diet, if your body controls your alkalinity what is the point of eating alkaline foods? Is it easier for your body to control?

I think its a bit tricky. Its better to say your body TRIES to maintain a certain ph and some things like stomach acid it must maintain. But overall... a body can run a bit alkaline or a bit acidic. And pro-acidic food consumption can lead to an acid state in the body if  you test ph strips.  I havent seen specific scientific tests. But the alkalinity is based on the ash test of the food after burning from what i've read. Generally it seems to correspond to things we think are healthy

OK Thanks for the reply, I have seen in numerous articles/videos that cancer can't live in an alkaline environment, and that if your system is not acidic your body will not leech your bones to buffer the acids, so no osteoperosis, all the more reason to eat an alkaline diet ;)

pretty much! An acid environment is a breeding ground for diseases, whereas most diseases simply can't exist in a clean alkaline one.

The blood must have a pH of 7.35-7.45. If it drops below 6.8 or above 7.8 death can occur so it is tightly regulated. The body does have buffers so yes it can regulate the pH but it is helpful to consume foods that produce an alkaline ash. Fortunately, the vast majority of fruits and vegetables are alkaline forming (you can find charts of acid/alkaline foods on the internet) The vast majority of meat, dairy, grains etc are acid forming. So if Dr Doug Graham said that the body takes care of it he may have been talking about when someone is following the 80/10/10 diet (eating fruits and vegetables-which are alkaline forming)

we try to eat foods that create an alkaline environment within the body, not an acidic one. It's like shooting yourself in the leg... yeah the body will heal, but why would you do it in the first place if it can be avoided?

Test your personal PH with test strips with your first bladder release in the mornings that will give you a starting point.

 

The body does deal with acidic conditions. However, it does so by taking minerals from the body with calcium being a big player here. Ostioperosis (spelling?) can definitely be caused by a poor diet. Not a diet lacking in calcium but a diet that caused internal acidity. Minerals can also be stripped from the teeth too which can make for a gummy future.

Just make sure you don't confuse foods that become acidic in the body during digetsion with foods that are acid on the plate. Most fruits are acidic but through various chemical reactions in the body, digestion, the end products are alkalizing.

you body releases calcium phosphate from your bones - it is the PHOSPHATE that your body uses to balance body acidity and the calcium from you bones are excreted out through your kidneys & liver - prolonged acid body = crumbling bones (osteoporosis) and calcium formed kidney stones. 

moral of the story is dont consume foods that cause an acidic body
