I've been vegan for the last 3 days, and today was my official day of starting raw till 4.
This morning i had 10-15 feijoas at about 9:30 am, everything was fine at first, but 30 mins later and i started to get like a headache and rushing feeling. I waited a bit longer and drank some water. The nauseous feeling still lingers, and i even threw up a bit of the fruit too (Ew yuck!), it also burnt my throat like no tomorrow!!
Oh, last night i had a stirfry rice with brown rice, green beans, capsicum, brussel sprouts, leek, broccoli, cauliflower, with a clove of garlic and half a cube of reduced salt vege stock.
I'm just wondering if this feeling is normal this early? Do you have any tips? Is it okay to have a cooked carb lunch? something plain like rice or potatoes with no salt and oil of course, or should i just tough it out and have another mono meal - a different fruit probably.
I experienced this too when I first started raw til 4. I would have fruit for breakfast and then I would get a spacey feeling, nausea, and a couple times I even threw up. I googled and youtubed and heard enough to start eating green leafy veggies with my fruit in the morning. I did this by having smoothies with greens (and not just a hand full but at least 8 ounces) or I would start my day with a green juice (at least a pound for juiced greens). I rotate my greens between spinach, kale, chard, collards, and spring mix. I had to do that for quite a while before I was able to eat just fruit on its own as my first meal of the day - although I rarely eat fruit first thing without greens, I just don't feel as good if I eat fruit first thing without any greens.
This was my experience and what worked for me. I am in no way saying this is the only way and what people "should" be doing.
Hope you feel better!
That's exactly the feeling, isn't it horrid! Thanks for your advice, i'll definitely give it a go. (:
Thanks for the advice. I also had garlic in my cooked meal last night, and there was no issue this morning. I'm wondering if maybe the fruit was a little under ripe.
I agree with Buddah Dylan. Make sure you have managed to drink one litre of water before even thinking of your breakfast. It is not only to get hydrated, it will also help you to improve your digestion. When exactly after waking up do you have your breakfast? For me it doesn't work to be awake let's say 3 or 4 hours without eating.
Hope you'll find your way and feel better soon.
I was nauseous when I first started Raw till 4 too. I remember day 1 or 2 just leaning over the toilet for like an hour ready to puke. Not fun. It went away though! All the fruit, in a mass quantity, was probably just a shock to my body. Try not to overstuff yourself at the beginning, and it's totally ok to gradually ease yourself into raw till 4!
