Hi all I just wanted to write about something very close to my heart and health. I have struggled for years with addiction, particularly alcoholism. I've taken part in abstinence programs with very limited success. I've been cooked vegan for years but went mostly raw around 3 months back. Aside from all the wonderful health benefits something unexpected and incredible has happened: My desire to drink alcohol (something i was compelled to do daily) has completely dissipated without me having to consciously do anything or will it to. I cannot stress enough how much Alcohol was ruining my life and health so this has really been life changing for me. I think there are two main factors here 1, physical and 1 psychological: 1) my body is getting enough micro nutrients and carbohydrates that it no longer craves the sugars in alcohol 2) the purity i aim for in my diet now necessarily extends to EVERYTHING i put in my body. This seems obvious but previously i was being healthy in all ways aside from alcohol consumption. I look forward to the continued benefits of this lifestyle and and your continued friendship and support ^_^
+1 for Pisces power!
To quote Joe Alexander in Blatant Raw Foodist Propaganda: or,Sell Your Stove to the Junkman and Feel Great! [what a name for a book eh?] " recreational drugs lose much of their attraction because raw food diet is a better high than even LSD, to say nothing for marijuana."
SOO glad that you are off the poison Astrid!
Thanks Buddy ^_^ !!
I can relate but I'm a Sagittarius. :)
Hi guys! I love 811 diet but I love also avocados. How do you think - 2 or 3 avocados per day, is it too much? :) I do not eat seeds or nuts, but I love avocado :P
Hi Gay, if you have a query like this not related to topic of discussion, you will get far more attention/answers if you post on the main forum.
Yes, 2-3 avos is considered far too much to be ideal; Dr Graham suggests a max if half an avo per day. But I just realised - you maybe consider yourself addicted, sorry. I think the emphasis is the same as for any addiction; fill up on fruit, the desire will lessen and may go totally. It's all a case of eating enough so as not to leave room for alternative, denser sources of food.
I think it really depends on you. The science shows that 2-3 avocados is far too many but that doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't eat them. Avocados are one of the few overtly fatty foods I can eat without adverse side effects. Truthfully though you should maybe consider cutting back to 1 a day.
You can eat as many Avocados as you want as long as you keep the 80/10/10 ratio going. So that would just mean you would need to eat more fruit cals to make up for the fat in the avos. And do way more exercise on "avocado binge" days.
I've heard that alcohol raises sugar levels in the blood so that is probably the main reason for your addiction being gone.
happy for you astrid! :)
Thanks Jenelle!! :D
Wow, that's amazing~! I hope you find more great things to come, soon!
Me too!! *_^
