Hi all I just wanted to write about something very close to my heart and health. I have struggled for years with addiction, particularly alcoholism. I've taken part in abstinence programs with very limited success. I've been cooked vegan for years but went mostly raw around 3 months back. Aside from all the wonderful health benefits something unexpected and incredible has happened: My desire to drink alcohol (something i was compelled to do daily) has completely dissipated without me having to consciously do anything or will it to. I cannot stress enough how much Alcohol was ruining my life and health so this has really been life changing for me. I think there are two main factors here 1, physical and 1 psychological: 1) my body is getting enough micro nutrients and carbohydrates that it no longer craves the sugars in alcohol 2) the purity i aim for in my diet now necessarily extends to EVERYTHING i put in my body. This seems obvious but previously i was being healthy in all ways aside from alcohol consumption. I look forward to the continued benefits of this lifestyle and and your continued friendship and support ^_^
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That's incredible! They should start following 811 in alcoholics anonymous.
+1 theres always a lot of coffee and soft drinks when one is going through aa. an emphasis on proper nutrition would ease the process. But then again 811 could be applied anywhere with good effect, if done right.
^_^ ^_^ I just hope others get the same effects and prove that I wasn't an anomaly :)
Congrats to you!
I had a drinking problem as well and my urge completely went away once I started eating 811. I'm only about 70-80% raw but my urge for alcohol has completely disappeared. Like, I don't care for it one bit. It's really amazing actually. It's probably the combination of the carbs, sugar and just overall healthier well being. I've come across a few mentions of this effect around these parts. Keep at it and let me know if you ever need to talk :)
It's wonderful to hear that others are seeing the same benefits! It just occurred to me when reading your post that one of the reasons i don't want it any more is that I drank socially through insecurity mostly and this lifestyle gives me the energy, good mood and glow to communicate happily without any help from intoxicants. Also, opening your mind and heart to health tends to let the universe know that you are seeking other warm and kind like minded beings who ultimately make your sober and healthy journey a blast :)
I observed this too, in my case it was alcohol and chocolate!
I have never been a big chocolate fan, but went through a time around 15 years back when I ate wholemeal bread for a while. My desire for cane sugar increased; I tested the phenomenon by stopping bread, the craving dropped by 80-90%. I went back to bread to test, and within a few days wanted chocolate again. I noticed the choc craving more because it was unusual for me, but I was then in the habit of drinking nightly anyway.
This is awesome! I am very proud of you! I am so glad to hear this as I am going to school to work with persons affected by substance abuse! Great confirmation!
Thanks and best of luck with that! The more people out there fighting addiction the better. It really is a scourge and an enemy of true personal and collective freedom
The same thing happened to me!! I don't crave alcohol any more and the thought of drinking it makes my stomach turn. GOOD FOR YOU!!!
And you buddy~!~!
That's awesome Astrid! Thanks for sharing that! :)
I too was amazed at how going raw vegan affected me, the spiritual and mental benefits really took me by surprise!
