30 Bananas a Day!

It looks like I should be able to get figs for a pretty decent bulk price...about 10-12lbs for $23. That seems decent to me, but if I'm getting ripped off, let me know. I've never bought figs in bulk before, so my question is, are they a good, calorific fruit to buy? I'm on a tight budget and so I really can only buy fruits that are calorie dense and are a cheap price for a high amount of calories. Can anyone with some Figarific experience let me know if this is a good deal?

Thanks fruities :)

I know that they're reasonably high in calories like bananas but know nothing about wholesale prices.
okay! as long as they are high in cals I'm content!
a pint of local blueberries is a treat because they are so low in cals for the price I am charged :(
Out of four sources I checked. They averaged around 75 calories per 100g. So not bad per 100 gram. Medium fig is around 50grams apparently
thank you for that info! I am very gracious for you looking!
Anytime :)
Is this a mail order place I can order from, the cheapest I have found them is $1.50 a pint
I'm sorry it isn't mail order :(
but I think that is a good price you are getting because when I got a pint at the store I am getting bulk from they charge 1.99 or 2.99, I can't remember...but more than 1.50
Are they organic? Sounds like a good price to me, if so.

I just purchased 10 pints of organic, raw figs for $30.00 at my local store. $3.00 a pint. I really adore raw figs, and have been saving my pints for "dessert" at the end of the day. It's so rare to find them raw (where I live, at least) that I couldn't help but treat myself. I usually spend only $40.00 for the whole week of fruit ... so this was a splurge for me!

Enjoy your figs. :-)
they are not organic, unfortunately!
Thanks for your advice! I got some about 2wks ago and they were fantastic and he said the its still the beginning of the season! Fortunately, I'm getting they from a store I feel very comfortable with. The wholesale buyer has been SO SO helpful with my bulk purchases and never makes rude comments!
Awesome! Glad to hear I'll be making a good choice :)
yea that seems a great price.. just take care of them to make sure they don't get moldy, because it can happen kinda quick with ripe figs.. i usually try to eat them within 1-2 days
