Voigt is Executive Director of the Washington State Potato Commission. To demonstrate the complete nutritional profile of spuds, he'll be visiting potato prairie (apparently with a little oil for cooking and spices, though) for the next 60 days. I can't help but think he's at least seen our community here...

While it ain't fruit, I think this is pretty neat, and certainly will be testimony to the completeness of plant foods and benefit of carbohydrates overall (hopefully he blogs about the increased energy he'll likely have--unless his diet is already low fat vegan). It does look like he'll be posting before and after physical results, so that'll be interesting to see!

Think any members of the "Washington Beef Commission" would be brave enough to stomach "10 steaks a day"?  I'd love to see those before and after physical results/numbers!

I say: have fun mashin' up society's carb-phobia, potato guy! Times like these I wish I were the Executive Director of The Mango Commission or something like that... I'd totally join him for a 60-day mono!

Well at least it's lfcv (i hope), rather than advocacy to "super-size" your "value meal" at mcdonalds or something lol
That is an interesting blog to follow, it's sad that he felt he needed to binge on "The Cheesiest Meetyest Pizza" before hand though, why do people binge prior to healthy or restrictive diets...

I definitely lost all respect for this website and idea when the last supper video shows him eating this biggest load of crap. How on earth is that going to get him up for the next 60 days? He is going to have terrible problems getting such low levels of vitamins whilst his body goes into trying to detox all that carcinogenic rubbish he's just eaten.
Had he chosen to stock up on spinach, mangoes and berry fruits, he may well have found the 60 days of bland food ok. If he did see this website, he didn't do much research.
But yes, at least he's not eating any of our animals for the next month and a half.
He will be on a multi-vitamin, he doesn't have to tell us that part, but you're certainly right about the detoxing.

Yeah, I have to say I went from thinking this was a pretty cool guy with a neat idea to (after watching his meat praising videos) to losing almost all respect for him.
It will be interesting to see how it works out for him. Better than a lot of diets. I don't think boiled potatoes are that bad. I would add some spinach daily or every other day. I'm not suggesting that this would be a good diet but I don't think it will be that bad (in the short term). With some spinach or other mineral dense greens that is. Without them, well, we shall see I guess. Hope he exercises and drinks plenty of water too
I remember reading that during the Holocaust people were eating a very vegan-like diet during some of the tough times... it was stated that their health improved during the Holocaust because they were eating mostly vegetables, actually mostly potatoes.

But if he went on potatoes and two fruits island, I'd be impressed... eating just potatoes, with conventional seasonings and a multi-vitamin really makes no point whatsoever... I guess it is good for people to realize they can experiment with their health/nutrition and be their own doctor though, follow the evidence presented by their bodies, etc. I do have issues when people blindly follow the advice of a doctor when it makes no sense whatsoever.

He's got a video about how potatoes can give you more vitamin C than oranges for the same price. Someone had better tell him that vitamin C is destroyed by heat so he'll have to eat them raw, doh!
