Comment by Herbivore Lion on July 9, 2012 at 5:57am Your skin can easily breathe through natural oils/fats the same way it can breathe through natural fabrics. It cannot however breathe through unnatural lubricants such as petroleum vaseline the same way it cannot breathe through materials such as polyester or PVC.
Yes HCLFRV is no doubt the best diet for your skin as far as general maintenance is concerned but if you got burnt or badly scratched shea butter would be the best thing to use. Even if you are doing HCLFRV shea butter will just give your skin that extra bit of health.
Comment by Motoman on July 7, 2012 at 8:04pm I can't imagine how slopping on something topically that's like axle grease ... is so beneficial to the living / breathing skin. Please explain. I'd thought that true skin beneficials are from the inside out ... not outside in. Like when I went HCLF (after 24 yrs of vegetarianism) ... and about 2 weeks later had quite the shock while scratching a back itch ... my skin back there felt incredible!!! And it all just got better & better!
If I was a living pc of skin, and someone lathered me up, I think my first reaction would be ... "WTF" !!?? ... before I got to work with my mates to reverse such an onslaught.
Just my take
