Well Chris Califano I always appreciate your words of wisdom, but let's do make a distinction of extra fat and obese. Obviously fat works the best for making obese sumo wrestlers and Americans. Also calories are calories is not entirely true. It is a scientific fact that carbohydrates convert less efficiently into bodyfat because of the conversion process.

It is absolutely possible to get fat on fruits alone. I've done it. And I am over six feet tall with long limbs and always had an extremely hard time putting on weight of any kind. To make a VERY long story short, I have been lfrv for more than two years (100% raw vegan since 2000, and 100% strict vegan since 1985), and dedicated to efficient fitness all that time and before. As part of my disciplined raw experiment, I have done what is very difficult for me, and that is to eat more calories than I need for a six month period. I eat between 80/10/10 and 90/5/5. The only overt fats I have consumed in the past ten years, in fact came from some nuts, seeds, avocado or durian. For the last six months I have had an average of one avocado a week, except for the summer months when I go with zero overt fats for at least two months at a time. When I hit 4800-5200 calories five days a week, that is when I begin to gain fat around my middle that I never had. Of course it gains everywhere as well as the body composition and anthropomnorphic measurements show, but it is easy to see all over my body as the muscular and veinous definition becomes obscured. I can also feel the increased lack of performance due to intra-cellular fat. After being a professional fitness trainer for 37 years, once becomes finely tuned and aware of these internal things as they relate to personal performance results.

When I was a newbie I admit that I never thought it possible to actually gain fat from eating a low fat raw vegan diet, but after deliberately eating more and more over a period of a few years, and this is not easy as you know!- I have proved to myself that in this respect, calories are calories!! But that is nothing new. The facts have not changed. We have not changed as a species. The only thing that has changed is that people are so used to a processed grain - based diet that they do not realize how less dense the fruit is! You have to eat a much higher volume to get the same calories. So you get full fast. But you can train your stomach to expand if you have the discipline and patience and prove to yourself as well that YES IT IS A FACT THAT YOU CAN GET FAT FROM FRUIT. 

(And no, this is not my stomach size- this is actual fat blubber roll that I can pinch. Even when I eat 20 bananas in one sitting, the "belly bloat" goes down in ten to fifteen minutes as my digestion is normal)
