Thanks man, you are an inspiration.  Love the humble, dedicated fashion in which you keep adding weight.  I've been curious about this because at vegan bodybuilding they seem to take a pretty much standard approach (gram per pound per day) in terms of high protein though it is in vegan form.  So its very interesting to see you doing your thing on 80/10/10.

Paul- you won't believe how many times I get asked the calorie question, I been meaning to make a video on it for awhile.  I average about 2500, sometimes less and some days a whole lot more. In all I'm really not that big of an eater, I just eat til I'm content.  I tried eating 4000 calories for close to a month thinking it would improve my performance for a month I just felt sluggish.

One time I water fasted a whole day before, because I didn't have time to grab any food, and got a lift in at the end of the day and had one of the best lifts in my life.  Not that recommend that at all, I'm just saying that's what happened. However, going beyond a day of lack of food or days of constant lack of calories, yes strength definitely drops off.

This is really cool Mike.  I was wondering what you have learned regarding caloric intake in terms of your ability.  How many calories do you eat a day?  If I understand right your are 80/10/10.  I was wondering if you see a big difference if you eat 3000 calories a day or 4000 or more?  Do you see your strength falling off if you accidentally let your calories fall too low?

Sam- thanks and that's not a bad idea. 200 fruitarian one handers coming 2013, I’d grab my ticket for that one. As for being sore for a couple days. Well, what do you expect? I did 100 of them in a row, lol. Also, I haven’t even consistently trained for pushups in years.

Chris- well, I copied Rocky Balboa style of one handers the best I could:

Yeah, the form got a little sloppy after 50, lol! However, no back problems at all. I got my obliques worked pretty good, though. I'd give it a whirl. It's part ab workout, too. Thanks for the reminder to be safe, I admit I go overboard at times! Thanks for the support. :)

Michael!- THANKS, what a compliment! Man, I can't wait for that! HAHA, people are going to be blown away! Ultra marathoner turned elite body builder on mostly fruit. I can see the headlines now! You are going to dominate in this field.

So Sehr Fruchtig- You are welcome! I got a lot more lifting vids coming. If I were you, I'd secretly start practicing pushups and then surprise your husband with a pushups challenge one day, and he’ll be telling you, “Hey, hun…could you pick up another 150 lbs of watermelon. We are running low.”

Extremely impressive. I'm going into body building in 2013 b/c of what you've doing.

Yes I did think the form/technique was a little .....unusual lets say lol. I'm a big fan of less weight/reps and better technique. The thing that concerned me the most was the way you described how sore you  were two days after (for me that would ring alarm bells). Be careful dude, great to see you setting goals and having fun tho.

Agreed that it is a great effort. But this shows endurance and even dynamic strength. But not absolute strength and certainly not focused (same as absolute) strength. That does not by any means de-value what you did, or say that you do not posess some good absolute strength, but if one cannot demonstrate it then the experiment is for naught. Perfect form is the means by which strength is measured, not a preference. If dynamic strength is used in any movement of force then that is called power (the combination of absolute strength + momentum, as in Olympic Weight Lifting). Your body is young so you may get away with it. But to challenge anyone else to do it this way is inviting injury. The twisting torque to the shoulder joint and spine (and more) is dangerous and not the way the body was designed. Sure, flexibility in the joints allows emergency movements to occur, but to deliberately push the body this way is sheer madness. That being said, while I do not agree with you, I do understand your adventuresome spirit and enthusiasm, which is rare in this mediocre world. You are like harnessed lightning MIke. Just be careful. I am not trying to play "dad" with ya, just that I know what happens when power gets out of hand... it is not a pleasant thing. I want you to enjoy your fruit and strength adventure (hey that sounds like a good name for a website lol I'm sure it exists already) and benefit from it. More power to you! Just keep it strict. Twisting your body is like twisting the rules... what is the use?
