We are indeed near Melbourne. My partner and I were staying in Melbourne for a week but we're just not made for the city. We're living in Torquay for the next few months soaking up the surf and working.
I'd love to help organize/attend anything 811!
Where abouts in Melbourne do you live? I don't mind busing it up.
Hi hellcat. Yep, I completed the training. I was 90% 811 lfrv. I was eating 811 for about two months before training. Energy levels were great, however the lack of sleep was difficult to me. I'm feeling it now as all my body wants is rest. I am trying a short waterfast (day 1) to give my body a break. It's very doable on an 811 lifestyle. When I did occasionally have salt or fat I felt awful!! I since have have put salt
The Melbourne community is about to transfer to a brand new Group on 30BAD. Why? We have had a few website issues with the current group, and the easiest way to fix this is to start afresh.
The existing Melbourne 811 Group is due to removed over the coming days. Thank you for your understanding, and we intend to get things rolling as quickly as possible!
Thanks. Take your time. I'm only beginning to research dopamine and emotional memories, but amygdala seems to be heavily involved. Still, I've only read a handful of studies so far. If you can recommend good sources of information (books, studies, internet articles, videos, podcasts etc.) on the topic, please do!
Ah! So wonderful! That is where I wish to volunteer next after TUAPA in Taiwan.
I will be in Thailand for most of the summer then the plan is to move over to Taiwan to volunteer at a larger shelter with a group of friends in the fall (september to november). After that I will be headed to Australia to do my around the coast tour on my bicycle so the itinerary for that isn't set it stone. It depends on how fast I can peddle! I WILL be going to melbourne at some point though.
I am still hoping to go on the Sea Shepard anti-whaling campaign but I do not know if the japanese are going out this year, if they are then I hope to be on the boats by mid november. if they aren't going out then I'll be in australia. if they ARE going out and I get on the boat then I'll be coming to australia in february or march most likely. Nothing is set in stone, I'm just going to go with what comes!
They got back to me withen 24 hours to let me know how to get to the shelter, gave me numbers for nearby guest houses and possible homestays, emergancy numbers, etc. They'll amazing people. It's owned by two woman and run by many volunteers. The majority of the work is with street dogs but I will also be going to temples to bring food to the dogs living there.
I'll be there in a few weeks, then will be volunteering at a dog shelter. It's a great opportunity. They only ask for a four day minimum commitment so it is very easy for travelers to contribute. they also don't charge any fees like many other rescue shelters in thailand. I wish I could afford the others but for now I can't. Once I do my fruit picking in australia and taiwan I'm going to save up to return to Thailand to volunteer at the elephant rescue and another wild life rescue shelter.

As long as it pertains to my theory.
Thanks!

Aweeeeesome. :) I've heard a bit about it and wondered if it's as tremendous as I imagine it. :D Maybe summer '12.
