Man, I completely miss comments on here...I need to start checking them more! Well I can't believe we never ran into each other! I've spent plenty of time in the deli area lol!
There aren't any 811 people here that I know of. I have a friend that mono-meals for health reasons but she's not low fat. She'll eat a couple avocados just for a meal, she does lots of supplements and superfoods as well. Most of my "raw" friends here love the gourmet life, they do love their fruit too though :)
Yeah I hope to run into you at an event! I'd love to have a Nor Cal 811 event. That would be soooo great!!!
Hey Kait! I didn't see your comment until today...I probably was! I practically live at the co-op!!! I'm there a LOT. Do you live in Sac? Next time say hi!!! :)
For sure! I am travelling to Arizona in Feb. to visit my grandparents and I am soo excited haha... It was so cold here earlier in the week it was -44celsius, but it's not so bad right now... So how's college/university there now? What are you taking?...
Hi Kait,
My mom and step dad live in Berkeley also. I was down there a few weeks ago for the first time and was blown away. Absolutely amazing. San Fran was gorgeous as well. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay long but next time I go I will definitely check out the local markets. The only one I went to was a small one across the street from Safeway on...hmm..I can't remember the street names..the safeway at the corner of an intersection adjacent to a gas station and a few bars. Anyways, I'm envious of your location! haha. Any places your recommend seeing?
I know! YAY! I am so ready for transformation! Everything is aligning so magically to support this commitment. I have been mono-ing for the first 2 meals for the past few days. How 'bout you? Mono?
i was high-fat high-raw for 5 1/2 years, always chasing the dream of 100%, could never sustain it. i was at my wit's end last summer, going for my last-ever attempt at being 100% raw, and if i didn't make it, i was going to say eff it and just be vegan (but of course, once you've found it, you can never just let go of it, really, right?). i was very fortunate to join rawfu, and meet a wonderful woman named Beth from NJ (Brooklyn at the time) who posted an innocent thread "Who here is interested in 80-10-10?" i'd never heard of it, which is a damn shame - 5 1/2 years raw, never heard of Doug Graham! - but because i was open and curious, i wrote back and asked questions, and it was like BLAMMO! TRUTH!! and a week later i'd made the switch and have never looked back to regular raw. i've fallen off the wagon and had cooked - unfortunately, when i'm eating cooked, i'm eating emotionally and it has nothing to do with health, so i eat junk vegan, figuring it's all just about the same, quality-wise - but i've never been remotely tempted back to regular raw. i'm on 3 days 100% 811 again, and feeling the buzz that tells me i'm over the hump and back on the path. yippee!!
Life is sweet and the fruitas are plentiful! Fine goals you got, any specific ideas on how you'll assist others? AZ lover, eh? Wanna trade for the next coupla months? We've been hitting some 115deg days here!!!
Story in a raw nutshell: Jan 2007, I flipped overnight from a card-carrying carnivore to veg. Tossed the cheese within a 2-3 months, to virtual vegan. Discovered Raw probably March or April 07, and simply never stopped learning or wanting to. I actually enjoy reading of people's health experiences and viewpoints.
LOL, I remember advancing in my diet so fast that I'd leave behind things I'd just purchased because I no longer saw them as acceptable, i.e. veggie burgers, nama shoyu, etc. During that first year 07, denser/fattier foods just seemed not to work for me as well as fruits/veggies. My skin's my best barometer for health, as I suffered with often shocking acne from age 13. Now, though not perfect, it's clarity is more the standard than the exception. Only someone who has ever dealt w/ skin issues themselves would understand what a blessing it is to enjoy clear skin. I never want to take it for granted.
Thus, even before I really understood it, I was eating in close accordance w/ 811rv from around the middle of 07, with only irregular exceptions. Been growing stronger ever since, including in other no less vital health factors such as emotional poise, life purpose, fitness, and so forth.
Thx for bumpin my blog. I left you a reply on that same one. What drew you to a healthier lifestyle initially, and where will it take you in the future?
Welcome to the community Kait! Raw vegan for 2.5years? Thats awesome. Lots of support for your 811 goals on here....feel free to intro yourself in meet & greet, enjoy!
