Why I am a liar and you should be too

I do. I don’t lie about every day things but I lie to others about what my actual dreams and plans in life are. I tell people what they want to hear. I tell them that I won’t stretch too far in to the realm of unrealness. I tell them that I’m going to play

I completely agree. It's basic self-preservation if nothing else, I don't tell people the ideas and plans I have for the future in exact detail because they won't understand, and I'm too busy making them happen to stop and make a case for myself every five minutes!! Good luck with everything you want to do Derek, whatever it is ;o)

having disempowering people in your life isn't good for the soul either but we have to make do with what we have

there are some people I can tell anything to and those are the kinds of people I try to surround myself with but some people I can't tell them anything

I love feedback :) I used the word lying in order to create more shock value, I wouldn't even say that I lie, I just don't tell people the whole truth, I don't flat out tell them complete bulls***

thanks very much for the comments Eliane :)

I personally think lying isnt good for the soul. When people start lying it creeps into other areas of their lives and into their subconsious. Its much better to always live the truth. By your post you are encouraging others to start lying. If you notice the way you explained your justification of it, you yourself dont even use the word "lying" you say instead "will have to tell information to".

Im sure youre an amazing guy and have a huge heart and wonderful intentions so please dont be offended by my reply. I only mean well and wish you everything beautiful. x

I disagree. There are some people in certain situations that you will have to tell information too... I was living with my parents and when I moved to another province, I told them that I would continue with electrical apprenticeship after moving to put their minds at ease... I never really had any intention of doing so... I don't want people to worry about me...

What would have been better to tell them, "Oh ya, I'm moving 5000km away, I have no place to live and I don't intend to work a normal life... " I'm sure that would've gone over well :P

I would love to be able to tell people my dreams and visions but if they can't handle it then I would rather tell them differently or just not tell them at all, in some instances people ask questions ...

I did read it and its beautiful to dream and have sparks fly in your soul and do big things, but theres never a need to lie and make up stuff. If I'm around anyone who wouldnt understand I just keep things to myself.

right on Heather, it's much easier to keep things to yourself :)

@Steven, sometimes people can offer wisdom or advice... sometimes not so its tricky

Why do you think its good to lie and recommend others lie too? I dont understand this philosophy. Makes no sense to me.

I sometimes do this when I know I'm gonna get shot down. Then after I achieve the goal I tell them ;)

Nice article, I agree.
I think the main question is what's the purpose/goal in telling about anything to other people...
