Well, I ate 30 bananas on Monday and by Tuesday, I felt bloated and was constipated; I still am. What did I do wrong? I had my green smoothie for breakfast and a salad for lunch (only raw veggies-no dressing) and had 2 c. of watermelon for dinner with the bananas. I don't know if my stomach is still too small to consume that much or if it was what I ate with it, but I still feel pretty set ack from it. I felt pretty over-stuffed all day as well....
Any suggestions, ideas, opinions?

Comment by Tonya Kulczyski on June 25, 2012 at 7:28am Vegan witch, I have increased my water intake and i've made sure that each banana is very ripe prior to eating it since that initial experience; thanks
Sultana, I have cut down to simple fruits rather than complex recipes, and things seem to be easing up a bit.
Lastly, i've been eating my melons alone and at least 2 hrs. before and after anything else, and the bloating is decreasing.
Thank you, everyone, for your input!

Comment by Juliana on June 21, 2012 at 8:47pm not enough water. when i begun, even only eating fruit, i was getting constipated... even for a whole 3 days. once i started drinking 4 + litres of water my bowel movements were fine. now i can drink less than that though. it seems impossible to have such a symptom eating so much fibre but it does occur.
Comment by vegan witch Ⓥ on June 21, 2012 at 7:44pm i mean no offense to you tonya but i cant believe anyone getting constipated on fresh fruit and raw veggies - its just not possible under natural circumstances - if your bloating consider drinking more water, menstral cycle & keep totally from salt.

Ripe bananas.
Smoothies have the ability to mask the taste of unripe bananas. Even if the smoothie tastes fine, and the bananas look ripe, still taste the bananas beforehand to make sure they are ripe. If they don't taste like you could eat 10 of them whole, then don't eat 10 of them in a smoothie.
Comment by Sultana on June 21, 2012 at 2:09pm Hi Tonya,
KISS
ie: Keep It Simple, Sweetie :)
In the beginning it's best to stick to mono meals. I'm not sure what your eating background is, but in the beginning most people's digestion is compromised... and simple, mono meals are best.
It might also be a good idea to avoid greens just for a few days or a week or so. They're fibrous and a bit harder to digest than most fruits.
Perhaps avoid melons in the beginning too... since they are not calorically dense ( you need A LOT inorder to make a meal which is daunting for newbies) & best eaten alone or with a down-time between them and other fruits.
Comment by Luk on June 21, 2012 at 8:15am and the million dollar question is: where those bananas ripe? Congrat RT katie!
Comment by holdkocos on June 21, 2012 at 6:44am maybe the salad for lunch?...
i've done that and the results were the same :P ...
Comment by Tonya Kulczyski on June 21, 2012 at 12:24am Thank you for all of your input! I will try the melon on its own and see what happens. Some of the bananas were not completely ripe..... That's where I made a huge mistake! Thanks
I was so consumed with getting them down that I overlooked the quality of the bananas....
