Two of my kids are no longer eating animal products. (The 3rd kid hasn't for a while.) My other 2, ages 7 and 9 were offered meat by their father two nights in a row and both nights said no thanks. The older one commented, "Nah, I don't want to eat all that fat" he's grossed out by fat and knows the fat content of meat and dairy. The younger, my daughter, said "I'm just not going to eat meat anymore". LOVING IT! Husband is taking it well. He's eating more fruit too and working out all the time now. This lifestyle is catchy!

Thanks, Jeanie. At least your child's teacher was on board with that. It's so scary that milk is still touted as a health food!!!
Comment by Jeanie Cig on April 3, 2012 at 3:39am So good to hear Mary :) I've been getting my husband on board slowly... even caught him reading posts on the vegsource forum :) At least he's stopped asking if there is any "food" in the house. Haha I would point to the fruit and say "Yes there is plenty of FOOD!"
My 5 yr old put milk and cheese on the "unhealthy" side of the dental health week food chart she did in pre-k, but was told to put it on the healthy side. I talked to the teacher to explain and she agreed about dairy!!! It's a shame she has to tow the line for whatever stupid curriculum!! Even she knows it's not healthy.
Thanks guys, your support is very important to me. To be honest I'm glad I didn't have open up the animal cruelty page too explicitly with the kids. I have a hard time exposing them to horrors. They have a general idea but that's it. So the health angle has worked for us, for now.
