I am really inspired by the stories and the lifestyle of LFRV. So far, I have done well on fruits and greens, just as advised. But the worst part is waking up, I really crave my soy latte and being at work, filled with temptations and sometimes needing, craving a coffee out of tiredness or sheer boredom. At 2am at work, a fruit or salad does't sound like the most appetizing things. I feel most like I want hot soup or bean tacos with guacamole and sometimes old cravings will come back, for cereal or even tator tots. Has anyone else struggled in this way? I feel as though I'm in a battle with myself when these cravings occur.

Comment by Sweetfruitlover on May 20, 2012 at 8:13pm Hi Karri, congrats on your two weeks! I have experienced those same late-afternoon cravings at work. Someone would heat up a savory soup or make popcorn in the microwave, and I'd just want salty fatty foods in the worst way. It never helped to actually eat things with salt though - this was probably just my body detoxing from my years of being a salt addict, not an actual nutritional need. In fact, weakening and eating something salty (like kale chips) probably just prolonged the salt cravings for me. Make sure you get lots of greens and water along with your fruit, and try to be strong. The cravings will pass and you'll feel awesome. It's so nice to finally be free of those cravings! But I had to give up salt 100% before I was finally free of them.
Comment by Greenmama on May 20, 2012 at 1:38pm Sounds like you are doing awesome! Way to go on 2 weeks. Cravings are a sign of being under-carbed (and also under-slept). Sounds like you are working 3rd shift, too, and that is notoriously hard on the body and can mess with the hormones that regulate hunger. Sometimes you have to just start eating the fruit and watch those cravings disappear like magic. Buying the best quality fruits you can afford and that are your favorites helps, too. HUGS!
Comment by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 20, 2012 at 11:08am First off, congratulations on your two weeks lfrv! That is an accomplishment. Pat yourself on the back.
Yes, I've experienced this and I think we all have. After all, the phood industries engineer the chemical composition of all of this stuff so that we crave it. It's them against us and we often feel so overwhelmed and helpless. Even the odors have chemicals in them to entice us back to the SAD and deadly path. Don't succumb. It does get easier. The more you avoid taking action the stronger you get and your body and mind and emotions will thank you. You will also find ways of satisfying those cravings. Just realize that there is an answer to your particular situation and seek that answer.
