That was the absolute WORST thing I have EVER TASTED

I was relaxing at my friend's house when we found a durian hidden in a mini fridge in their garage. How we found out was because, when we went into her garage it smelled as if there was a dead body in there. Needless to say we had to investigate. A few rounds around the garage and we find the smell is coming from their minifridge. We opened the minifridge and found, what I thought to be, GOLD. I had never tried a durian before, I figured durians just smell THAT bad. We open it, it looks normal, I take a bite...

I pray, sincerely, that there was just something simply WRONG with this durian. I hope they don't all taste like this.

Comment by ali8un on February 20, 2012 at 8:35pm: I bought one only a couple of months into 811...initial bite I thought "oh, thats pretty good! Yum!' .....quickly followed by "eeeew.....that is really bad...." Couldnt eat any more. Gave some of it to my dogs and then threw the rest out. I didnt like avocado till 811 so I suspect that sometime down the track I may work out why it is that so many people rave about durian!

My dad travels to Dubai a lot and he said there are 2 kinds of people when it comes to durians--you either love them or you hate them. He said it smelled like a cigarette butt, yet he enjoyed the taste--his business friends wouldn't go near it because they said it smelled like stinky gym socks! It is also prohibited to take durians on trains/subways because some people are so repulsed by it! LOL- Anyhow, I haven't yet experienced the Durian, I live in a small town and I have no idea if the asian markets might have them..let us know if you try another one that is yummy =) Meanwhile, i'm going to try to get my hands on one for i must now know: am i a durian lover or a durian hater!

Comment by L on February 20, 2012 at 4:23am: I think there was something sincerely wrong with that durian. My first durian experience was also bad. If it tasted like onions mixed with custard, it was a sour one. My first durian experience was also like that. Need to get better quality.Try again :)
