30 Bananas a Day!

Was riding my bike fast and a strong gust of wind blew what I think is a small piece of sand into the lens, it's not in the center so it's not affecting my vision.

I went to sleep last night, it happened almost 24 hrs ago, was hoping it would come out.

Will it come out given time?

No Sheila, I got it removed two months ago, doc took it out with a bladed spoon and a powerful magnifying device while my chin and forehead were resting on a jig to stop me from moving.

It's funny you should ask this because I actually have a bit of tree in my eye from around 14 years ago it was one of those flakey trees.... I was climbing, and it fell into my eye it was extremely painful, and No one could get it out, now it looks like a beauty spot in my eye, but I like it so um, yours could be permanent.... Idk

When you get a sliver anywhere else, it'll work its way out by itself or pus will be needed to push it out.  I imagine that might be true for the eye.

Bit of trivia: there is a small shell like creature called the eyestone which was an old timey remedy for foreign particles in the eye.  Apparently it was alive and kept in sugar.  When needed, it was washed and put into the afflicted eye.  The patient had to sit still while it traveled all over the eye and then it would dislodge the fragment.  Strange but apparently true:

I'm still curious to know how the eye goes about handling ejection of matter embedded in the eye

Wind was a bugger here all day - 70 km hour winds.  Annoying and dangerous. Glad to hear you went to a doctor - don't mess with your eyesight.  You may want to get some goggles or a helmet with a visor in the future.

Went to an optometrist, it was a piece of rust.

He put fluorescein sodium in my eye with a dropper, then tried a wet Q-tip (which I tried, it didn't work) to get it out, failed, then he had to use a small sharp tool to get it out. He says he got 95% of it out. He put some local antibiotic in it (I was happy it was local, I probably would of not taken it if it was oral, I don't want that crap in me) and gave me a prescription for more local antibiotic.

ouch, might want to get looked at professionally if it's really embedded.  Don't want an infection to set in.
