Was riding my bike fast and a strong gust of wind blew what I think is a small piece of sand into the lens, it's not in the center so it's not affecting my vision.
I went to sleep last night, it happened almost 24 hrs ago, was hoping it would come out.
Will it come out given time?

Comment by Lisa Dee on September 20, 2012 at 2:12pm When you get a sliver anywhere else, it'll work its way out by itself or pus will be needed to push it out. I imagine that might be true for the eye.
Bit of trivia: there is a small shell like creature called the eyestone which was an old timey remedy for foreign particles in the eye. Apparently it was alive and kept in sugar. When needed, it was washed and put into the afflicted eye. The patient had to sit still while it traveled all over the eye and then it would dislodge the fragment. Strange but apparently true:
Comment by David Costa on September 20, 2012 at 1:32pm I'm still curious to know how the eye goes about handling ejection of matter embedded in the eye
Comment by Lisa Dee on September 20, 2012 at 12:39pm Wind was a bugger here all day - 70 km hour winds. Annoying and dangerous. Glad to hear you went to a doctor - don't mess with your eyesight. You may want to get some goggles or a helmet with a visor in the future.
Comment by David Costa on September 20, 2012 at 8:09am Went to an optometrist, it was a piece of rust.
Comment by Windlord on September 20, 2012 at 4:31am ouch, might want to get looked at professionally if it's really embedded. Don't want an infection to set in.
