Condiments, seasonings, spices, sauces and gravies - all toxic in the lungs. Blackpepper, for instance, toxic TO the lungs, more so than in the stomach. these substances stimulate & irritate when raw. But when heated their toxic components GET liberated into the air, & very toxic effects result. Condiments in the intestinal tract occasion irritation, indigestion & other discomfiting effects, especially laxative or diarrheal effects. These effects occur because the inflamed intestines rush the noxious matters, including food in the tract, to the nearest exit—the bowels. When condiments in theair, due to diffusion in the air or due to heating, the irritation to the lungs occurs similarly. Perhaps you've heard of pruritus anus. This merely means itchiness of the anal region. It gets caused by bodies elimination of toxic materials through the skin in the anal region.

Comment by Lemuel Grier on September 8, 2012 at 2:30pm Thank you for sharing this. I have questioned my condiment intake for some time and this is quite informative. However, have you found that condiments that are considered "spicy" or "hot" have any unique negative effects?
